Wondering if anyone has been on the Strzelecki Track in the past month or two and if so what it was like. I do have an off road van and drive to the conditions but in saying that dont really want shuddering corrugations all the way. Also it isn't showing a great lot of fuel stops on the map. Would appreciate any information.
Cheers

Drove early August and was good apart from about 30km near Mt Hopeless. Most road was 80kmh suitable. Nice camp sites at Blanchewater Ruins, and Montecollina Bore, but bore is dry now.
First 70km from Lyndhurst is sealed, next 380km to Innamincka unsealed with 5 or 6 sealed 5km overtaking sections.
Fuel at Leigh Creek or Lyndhurst at south end, then no more until Innamincka which is about 450km. Moomba is not open for travellers to access fuel.

Iknow a lot of the geocachers who attended an event in Cunnamulla both in off road caravans and other vehicles went down the Strz to SA for another geocaching event. they all travelled in convoy. I heard of no issues. This was end September.

We have driven it many times, but not in the last couple of years. Conditions can change in a heart beat due to heavy vehicle traffic or the weather. My advise is just go and do it. If conditions are poor, just slow down and take an extra day.
Dust storm, 40c, very strong winds, November 2009.
Heavy traffic is usually slow. They know how to drive to the conditions.
As Peter said, "the track can change in a heart-beat". It can go from billiard table smooth to impassable mud. They have done a lot of remedial work over the last couple of years mainly making it family car friendly. With the amount of "traffic" it gets now there is little chance of being stranded out there for days if common sense precautions are taken and vehicles adequately maintained.

Thank you so much to you all for the info. I really appreciate it. I did forget to say from which end I was coming. Actually will be coming from the north to head south, but the info you have given has told me what I needed to know. Thank you again. Love this site.
Kind regards
Kim
