I suppose this is probably "Technical" but I thought it may be of interest to some who do not normally read the "Technical" section and it's only a little bit technical :)
This is a really useful $19 device to check the power consumption of any 240V electrical device. it plugs into the mains (or a generator/inverter) the device under test is then plugged into this meter and it reports the following:
----
Mains voltage and frequency
Instantaneous power consumption
Power factor
Current
Minimum and maximum power drawn
Long term power consumption in kWh
----
It is ideal if you are setting up a caravan for solar/batteries/inverter in order to see what your appliances really consume. I check my van's AC this morning and was surprised to discover it consumes 1600W when heating but only 1000W when cooling.
It's one of those tools you won't use often but when you need it it's invaluable.

Ebay Power meter $19
I bought that model 5 years ago. Just after a year it died.
If I buy another one I will spend the money & get something like this.

I bought mine about ten years ago and it hasn't died.
Use this unit made up from the display from a wrecked inverter generator at the scrap yard. Use it to check load & voltage from my generators.
I knocked up this single phase submeter. You have to do the calculations yourself & it takes longer to calculate low loads.
