We arrive in Tassie 7.30pm - 24th this month December and are traveling to Orford towing a Complete Campsite Exodus 14 can anyone help / suggest a overnight stop somewhere just for a few hours sleep . I have had a look in both Camps 8 and Camps 10 books the stop at Conara looked like it might of been a possibility but I see its permanently .
Thanks for any suggestions regards Jacko

Horsehead Creek at Devonport is 5 minutes from the Spirit terminal, the Latrobe RV stop is 10 minutes from the terminal, both $10 a night, excellent choices. Deloraine, Westbury and Hagley all good within an hour from terminal. With a 7.30pm arrival you certainly don't need to be going any further

The Latrobe one is behind the IGA (usually late closing, but might close early due to pending event), fees collected early evening.
So bring your supplies from across the Strait, but DEFINITELY NO FRUIT. You might find some roadside stalls with honesty boxes to keep you going till you get to an open establishment.
No marked spots, borders the carpark for the shops.
Won't be dark till 9pm.
A creek behind if you need to muffle a genny.
Toilet block adjacent.
On Christmas Day probably most of the eateries in Campbelltown will be closed but the toilet block in the park is really good. Campbelltown has a good stopover spot to the north-east of the bridge.
Turn off to the East Coast (Lake Leake road ) is just a bit further south, (half way up the rise from the said bridge). This route is sealed.
Or you could continue south and turn off at Oatlands, travel on dirt road to Buckland, then out to Orford.
Going via St Marys is a looong way, has a mountain pass, but has things you will want to visit without the van, on a regular (open) day.
See ya'bout.

Thanks for the info we have a destination in Orford for Xmas day so only want a one night stop for a few hours , we wont be bringing any fruit and no genny
I see some of these site say self contained we have a toilet but no greywater tank do we will not be dropping anything on the ground and could catch any greywater if we needed to
I have got my WikiCamps to work it had a glitch but I think I have it sorted now .
I know we are traveling at a bad time Christmas Eve / Day but it was unavoidable just the way things worked out , we would normally not go anywhere at that time of year
Cheers Jacko
Edit . I just had a look at the Latrobe RV stop on Google Earth it looks like it will be just the place
I just hope its not to busy / crowded , probably not who else is stupid enough to travel Christmas Eve

The Latrobe RV stop is probably the best stop, however Hagley is 45 minutes closer to Orford than Latrobe. Hagley is a private campground with the owners living on site. I would even give the owners a ring. Depending on your fatigue and how much daylight is left, Campbelltown is another hour further down the road, turn left at the red bridge off the highway into the freecamp. You are almost at the turnoff up over Lake Leake to Swansea. It will still be daylight until 9.00pm in Tassie. Probably still 2.5hrs to Orford from Campbelltown

Bugger just been advised our departure and arrival time have been changed we now will arrive in Devonport at 9.10pm Christmas Eve , I guess we should have a look at Horsehead Creek and the Latrobe RV stop because we wont get to Hagley until well after dark
I will contact the owners of Hagley again see what they say about turning up late
