We have booked our tug and van on the Spirit of Tasmania. We booked some months ago expecting COVID to be less of a threat, it's now a moving feast and we are planning to travel from the Gold Coast down through NSW to Port Melbourne for a mid Feb daytime departure. Any advice on suggested caravan park near Melbourne to stay night before morning ferry departure? Also, any advice on tips to best que up for boarding?

Welcome to GN's Rambla. I can't help with your enquiry but the subject has come up several times recently - use search section of the forum - good luck with your planned travelling.

My suggestion is to call some of the van parks near Melbourne and if you are doing a night sailing ask if they will give you a late checkout. I did that a couple of years ago and we stayed at Stawell and the park gave us a 2pm checkout no extra charge then a 2-2 1/2hr trip to board the Spirit of Tassie. Hope this helps.

Plenty of quiet spots up cherry lane Laverton. Easy access to the westgate freeway.
The truckies often stop overnight along here so they can get an early spot for unloading at the many transport and warehousing companies in the suburb.

Have been on travels up on the Fraser Coast (Hervey Bay, Bundaberg, Childers) but now back home after dodging the floods. Thanks to all who responded with advice on where to stay prior to boarding Spirit of Tasmania.
