Has anyone out their been on the 10 day or 7 day cruise from Darwin or Broom of the Kimberly coast run by APT cruises and seen the falls at their best. I know its very expensive but includes all food alcohol and day trips except helicopter flights but I think it will worth it .I would like some feedback on the cruise but please nothing about corona virus I will take the risk with bookings or insure or Ill get a credit for next season

About 5 years ago, I did a trip with Odyssey Expeditions Kimberley Cruises
And it was fantastic, expensive but fantastic.
Included boat trips, chopper flights thru the horizontal falls etc etc
Remember that the Horiz falls is the result of the massive tides and not the rainfall.
Personally, I wouldnt do it during the wet season only due to the climate, hot and wet (and I lived in darwin at the time)

The Kimberley coast is spectacular and 90% of it can only be seen from the water. We have spent a lot of time in the Kimberley and driven and walked to many places that others have never seen. We have also explored some areas by small boat. If you can afford it you won't be dissapointed with the country you see.
It is also worthwhile doing a longer fixed wing flight to get an appreciation of the size and the geography.
We are standing at the top of The King George Falls. We got there by drivig and walking. Few people see this view.
It is possible though to get quite large boats to the base of these falls which are 30km from the ocean.

Agree with Peter - there are several small luxury cruise boats operating in the Darwin to Gove areas - they also are not cheap but do afford a better level of service.

I'm booked on Coral Expedition's Darwin to Broome cruise in late May. Fingers crossed the WA borders open and we get to go. This will be our 3rd try! Can't yet tell you what its like yet, but will report back if we get there. :) Can't wait!

That cruise will probably take you to the King George falls I pictured earlier. Those cliffs are 100m high (the Bunda cliffs of the Nullarbor are 80m).
It is possible to climb up to the top of the falls from the boat.

As one who is a little more restrictive with my Super, we flew out of Derby on a 5 seater Cessna (couldn't socially distance if we tried) with another couple & the pilot as company. We were also restricted with time with family wanting to visit us back home.
Sure, it would have been nice to have landed on the sea & do the boat trip through the falls but we enjoyed the flight over & over the falls. The pilot gave us the best views he could & explained the history both unsavourable & desirable on the way there & back. It was good value.
We also did the Bungles by helicopter - that too was excellent but I still can't work out how Pat encouraged me to drive in! We had seen most of them from the air but she wanted to see Cathedral Cave. So we drove in, took a few years off the life of the Patrol & some off me when we met an AAPT bus doing a good rate of knots through a very rough creek crossing! Yes it was bigger & faster but did "it have right of way, legally?"

The cliffs on the Bight near the Telstra Wigunda (SA) radio link tower were over 100m high & there was approximately 100m of cliff under the sea!! The Ceduna SES, Police did an exercise of a car going over the cliffs - the copper who went down to "rescue" the occupants of the car, ran out of rope 35m from the sea.

We did Broome/Darwin in 2018 on the Coral Discoverer.. Fantastic trip and scenery. Coral Discoverer had the large tender that could take all the passengers and a number of zodiacs, sometimes one or the other, sometimes both. Don't forget Montgomery Reef, very spectacular.
We flew to the Horizontal Falls from Derby for an overnight stay. The flight in and out was wondrous and the Horizontal Falls were amazing. To cruise for a week or so would be even more delightful. You can't take your money to the grave. Spend it now!
