Totally with you "Yogi" hence why i don't log in very often just browse once or twice a week.
I personally think for some members it's like a competition as to who can get the better or first post on the board.

Afternoon Yogi and Ge,
I like to welcome new members even if I don't know the answer to their questions. Reason is, when I first joined here many moons back now, I was welcomed by many and made me feel at home and well, welcome.
Since then I have met and made many friends from the Forum, some life long. I have also joined in many meet ups.
The things that disappoint me on the forum are the continued XSpurts and people not posting in the right sections set up by Webmaster to keep similar topics in the one place.
Oh well!
Keep Safe out there.

I think that you're both being a little unfair in judging most members. And while some might say "I know nothing" but I guess they are saying that they are interested & may too be "suffering" the same problem. Besides who is perfect?
The forum is about people with problems, issues, starting out, seeking advice & those who answer do their best to help. And there is no set times that we should log in - I often don't come in regularly & often miss out on a posting of interest!
Yes, in the past there have been some who have stood on a soapbox but they have been experts too in limited fields - some are still with us, some have gone. At work in Ceduna (SA) we had a saying about specialisation (& we did specialise). "Specialisation means you get to know more & more about less & less, so eventually you know everything about nothing!!
I don't normally reply unless the subject is one I know something about or I think my past experience might help the person asking for help. The forum has given me some really good advice & saved me some $$$ in the past.

Morning Ian.
None of the posts in this thread were necessary, other than perhaps the original post, which was a personal opinion, from there on it became a bit of a pile on, the thread really is pointless.
The Grey Nomads is a public forum, members are at liberty to post their thoughts as they please, provided they don't cause offense.

Unfortunately 86GTS, a number of new people come in here via Google & don't take the time to read the various tabs & what is in them. I guess these people get cheesed off because no-one answers their query.
So all of us have to put up with questions on all sorts of questions appearing "wherever". For example, I was curious a few days ago about items for sale - what did I find? Springs for 2018 Isuzu D-Max! No they weren't for sale - was a question on what to do about improving the car.
As D-maxer had answered already, I followed but made the point that the question was in the wrong area.

I personally find this forum to be very aggressive at times.
One may start out offering good advice or explanation and then the next post will be indicating that you are telling lies or because the person has not agreed with you then you are called a bully, a loon, or even worse. (Yes, these descriptions have been directed at me)
There are times when a member might post info which is not what another may agree on, but instead of politely suggesting the alternative, the one disagreeing becomes aggressive to prove a point.
Very rarely on this forum does anyone come back on here to state that they were in fact, incorrect, apologise and then get on with life.
Holding a grudge for the rest of your life robs your energy and degrades any other topics in which they comment when their aggressive attitude is constantly repeated.
I participate on other forums that arent caravan related and for the most I dont experience this antagonism.
Is it that the minority concerned have such a boring life that the only way they may participate is to put someone else down or are they just trolls.
It is hard to forgive and even harder to forget.
I will leave it there.

+ 1 for me Rob,

With all respect Rob D, I would agree in most of what you say and believe I could be included in your description to some degree.
Reacting to a poster, who in my opinion, has been unnecessarily aggressive with their replies, for no obvious reason.
But to be honest I feel you also at times have reacted to posts with some aggression, without reason, (again just my opinion) I would also include most, if not all, of the current posters above. Especially the ones who appear on here daily, if not every few hours.
I think we all get a little precious at times and can't see past the tip of our own noses, myself included
NONE of us are perfect, you RD, or MH or Craig1 or BA OR myself, lets ALL, thats ALL engage ones brain before replying in the future, if thats possible!

Don't think it is specific to this forum per say. It has more to do with attitude.
Next time you're out and about, observe how the 'oldies' behave, how rude
they can be and the show of 'entitlement' attitude.
Recent example as early as this morning:
Chemist warehouse Caboolture Qld, a congo line formed by all entitled oldies
to have a FREE RATS test. They may never use it but because I am entitled
to have one or two for FREE, I will do so.
Never mind about the consideration of workers - residential maintenance people
come to mind- who are required to have one for every premises they go to.
This can be quite often more then one in a day.
This one of many examples I can write about. Reality is I would write the
equivalent of a book with all the observations I have made.
Bottom line is don't blame the forum but the anal orifice who decides
to vent their attitude on here.
