Just spent a happy hour or so looking back at our forum of years gone by. Some of those names brought back memories of the folks I passed the time of day with posts, Cruisin Granny, Glassies, Rocky Lizard, Desert Dweller ( whom I had a few discussions with and didn't agree most of the time! but our posts were mostly of a civil nature.) Basil Faulty, Ole Grizzly, Jim Richo and not forgetting Wombat who gave us all a lot of pleasure with his humorous banter, never nasty. There are of course too many to mention.I wonder how many of them are still on the right side of the grass?
Having indulged in some nostalgia I decided to investigate the threads that were closed over a period of 900 posts. I saw only 3. Now what does that tell us folks???? It say's to me that Cindi's job was a damn sight easier than it is today.

I always got on with Desert Dweller - although sometimes from a distance :) He gave me some good advice on a few things.
Forums/people come and go - such is the nature of the beast and the inadequacy of this mode of written communication almost ensures conflicts will occur and be difficult to correct; how do you put a smile and an unspoken "Don't worry about it mate" into forum words?
It's good to make friendships if we can but, at the end of the day, "it's just the internet."

I'm still in touch with Crusin' Granny & count her as a good friend.
We visit from time to time. Until Covid that is.
One 'old' member that I miss is/are Just Crusin'.
Remember Dave 06 He gave us lots of entertainment and his moving on was an interesting event. Cindy once again did a good job there.

Dave06, was a regular contributor when I first joined in Sept 2008 and Basil Faulty. Dave could get cranked up on some subjects.

Lot of names you mention I remember well.
Basil Faulty used to write some very reasonable and interesting stuff.

He was, however, a bit of a character I'm sure you'd agree? As you say, he must have been at least 120, and he had driven a Nissan Patrol for around 90 years. Cheers

Yobarr if you sorted through his tall stories Macca did actually come up with some pretty useful info at times...we seem to have lost a few of the characters who used to reguarly contribute to the forum.

He certainly was a man with a lot of stories to relate, and lots of useful advice, but I used to struggle with many of his posts that seemed to be never-ending. His disappearance was, I believe, encouraged by admin, but I'll bet that he still drops in to the forum occasionally for a look?. Cheer

You use emoticons. That's what they were invented to do. Originally they were just ASCII characters to be read on their sides. Eg. :--) but then they were converted into images.
