I just called the shire office to make sure it was open and was told that it is and that it was a huge area
Just goes to show council how much they know

Hi there, When we stayed at Cooktown in 2019 we camped at the (donation) RV Campsite at the Cooktown Racecourse on Endeavour Valley Road. It was quite a large area. It was for fully self contained setups. I just googled it and it states their self containment rules, 3 nights max, and other information you need to know. It is 2k from the centre of town. Cheers.

Couple of years ago now, but I took a 16 foot van into Point Archer for 3 days. Turn off is south then a few K to the water.
