Morning all (Ive asked on another form but no direct answers)
I have a 2011 NA Big Red 19.
Have been trying to get reception for some time, then looked on the roof and found what appears to be an old break, right where the cable exits the roof of the van.
I need to replace the TV antenna cable from the wall plug to the antenna mast head.
Has anyone done this and if so how did you do it.
Is it as simple as pulling new cable (connected to old cable) through. If not what is best way to achieve my desired result.
(or if I can pull a few more inches of cable through, can I make a join that will provide a suitable connection)
Cheers

Hi shakey55; I have replace several coax cable in caravans over the years ( i used to work in the television repair trade then ) and yes the easest way is to attach the new cable to the old and pray to god thats it does not break. Every caravan is different and so is the lay out of the of how the cables run through the walls and roof including the cox cable to the television antenna. You may be lucky and be able to pull a bit of more cable through the roof from the antenna side of things ( good luck with that ! ) and use 'F' type connectors to join the two cables , use amalimating tape to water proof the connection.
Sorry i can not be more spicific in discription. Depending were your television is you may be able to use a cuboard to run a new lengh of coax and punch a hole through the roof and run the cable over the roof and to the antenna, concute and plenty of silicon to keep the water out are a must.
The other way would be to take your caravan to a local caravan repair company and let them have the problems of running the new coax. it would cost a few $$$, but then you would not have the worry or problems if somthing goes wrong !!

I recently replaced the cable to masthead . Made it extra long on bend so the cable bent very little . Being a single centre wire ? Its not very flexible . Used the old cable to pull the new through roof . Added Sikoflex to re seal around cover
