Not answering the question about where you put towels, we take and use microfibre towels when using our van. Smaller and lighter to pack, less space, and easier to hang in the bathroom area of the van. Sometimes the towels get spread over the contents in the back of the vehicle while travelling for one site to another. The advantages of sunlight and aircon in the travelling vehicle are better than the closed van.

Definitely microfibre towels. They won't be damp for long. My ensuite has a towel rail so I just hang them there. If you don't have a towel rail, you could try a fusion loc towel rail.

Fortunately, we have full ensuite and towel rails which allows damp towels to air/dry.
If you only have combo unit in van you may hang damp towels over seats in tug or van while travelling - and on awning rails when parked - permanent clothes lines may be fitted under awning rails, folding clothes lines are often fitted on outside rear of van.
Two previous vans had a 12mm chrome rail/bar/handle fitted to front of van.
Nomading is constantly thinking outside the box - can you fit plastic covered cup hooks on a vertical surface? Check your neighbor's set up when camped - most guys are proud to show off their inventiveness when asked how they solved problems.

I don't have a Motorhome but a caravan, but it could be done in a Motorhome as well.
So, what it is I hear you say?
Well, I have a plastic covered stretchy wire fitted about 4" down from roof (to allow for pegs) inside van the full length of van with a support screwed in a safe part of the roof about halfway. I can hang My towel or whatever on that while traveling and even overnight if need be. Works a treat every time. I also use Microfiber towels. Best thing since sliced bread.
The reason I used stretchy wire is, I can easily remove if I want as I used Hook and Eye fittings each end and an Eye in the middle.
Hope that is of some help for you.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Funny you ask that as I thought a oic might help but had to sort things out in readiness for weather warnings that we got earlier.

If you run 2 lines you can put the towel over both lines to get some air on both sides to dry quicker.
If you can't get the lines tight enough. A short length of dowel (or whatever, cardboard) with a bit of a saw cut in both ends, to push onto both lines as a spacer. Make the cut a tight fit so it doesn't fall off the line easily.

In my life of driving trucks the towel would drape over the bull bar until it was time to move and then be draped over the passenger seat.
The jocks and socks were rung out and place along the dashboard.
Everything would be dry before you needed those items again but if raining then it was the same rule as home, wait until a better day.

A tip that was given to me (around 2012), was to use a flannel, after a shower to take away most of the water, before drying yourself with a towel
This means that the towel does not get very wet, so does not take as long to dry
I have placed a hook, just outside the shower, to hang the towel
When travelling solo, I will just drape the towel over the TV bracket
When travelling with the wife, I will pull out the ladder to the luton peak, and drape both towels, over the top of the ladder

If you are in a hurry or you are one of those people who like to multi task, you can sit on the throne and have a shower simultaneously.
