We are getting back on the road but undecided which way to go. Have you any experience towing a van with the new Pajero sport? We can buy new for about same price as second hand Prado so worth a thought. We are planning to tow about 2.5 tonne.

A new car always has an advantage over a second hand anything, mainly warranty.
If you are going to get a new caravan, I would strongly suggest you do that first then get a suitable tug. Both tugs mentioned will come close to their limit with caravan of rated tare 2.5 tonne. There are not many caravans that are in actual fact at Tare as advised by factory plate.

I own a Pajero sport and tow a 17ft van weighted at 2000kg 210 on the ball. I had to fit airbags 10psi and heavier springs but standard height to the rear of the vehicle. The standard springs went down 75mm with the van on. I had the job done by Peddars for $1040 which I thought pretty fair. The vehicle tow ok not a race car but handles the job.Around 14/16 ltrs 100k.The trip computer for fuel/klms left is crazy and apparently this is normal. I have fitted Ocam Tow mirrors at about $550 and worth evey cent......https://www.ocamindustries.com.au/ocam-tm3-towing-mirrors-for-mitsubishi-pajero-sport-2015-chrome
We bought a Parjero Sport new three years ago. We tow a 17 foot van. We haven't done any modifications...it's straight out of the factory. While we haven't done a lot of towing, due to covid and a family issue, the trips we have done within Victoria, the Parjero has preformed well. Enough power to comfortably tow the van. Has all the goodies you expect in a modern car. The best thing about it is the very comfortable seats which is important to me as I have lower back issues. We are very happy with it. And it has a 10 year warranty.

Up at Punsland Bay with my 2021 Pajero Sport and it has handled it very well. Just dont expect to speed up hills at 100km/hr. The only thing I have done is upgraded the rear springs and the rubber cones. Old Jack on the Pajero forum is very knowledgeable.

I'm cheekily wondering what the Spanish word Pajero translates to in English?

We have a PS and tow a van which is about 2.6t. Weve made the following mods, long range tank, suspension upgrade including airbags and a remap.

I think when you narrow choices consider economy when not towing. When towing is only 5-10% of your driving, isn't that important?

Tezza if you do a search on Pajero Sport and you will find some comments and feedback on them that people have posted before including myself.
