I have asked this question on another forum and decided to also ask here so to capture more experience caravaners
The other day I was under the van and noticed a couple of areas of the outer skin of the plywood floor, like a very thin veneer peeling away, like stringy pieces.
What is the best way to fix this problem.
I was thinking of lightly sanding the effected areas and painting with something.
What are your expert thoughts on what I should do.

Paint the underside of your floor with PVA glue, apply with a brush, pushing fibres/splinters into place. When totally dry apply a coat of Gloss timber finish or Latex paint.

It sounds like a veneer separating but post a couple of photos and then we can look at ways of tackling it. Dont tear the veneer off as we can look at injecting glue behind and propping from underneath.

It could be damage from stones etc being thrown up.
My last van has metal protective sheeting from the front to just past the wheels where it stopped
The floor and everything else copped a hiding

There's your answer. Latex paint good idea as an alternative sound proofing paint like they use
on ute trays and the like.

I have a mate who insulated the underside of the floor with foilboard from bunnings
Foilboard very expensive and how is it going to withstand the elements.
Don't think it is suitable for a non-static van.
We looked at that as insulation when we lived in the over 50's village in Casino. All
manufactured home.

Hope its not too late.
Thetes a product at Bunnings called Wood Hardener.
Its exactly what you want. Excellent product. Spray on till it soaks i. A light sand to make a coat of paint to seal wayer out and all will be well.

Im away from my computer and having the devils with a stray phone.
However looks to me that your floor is likely not marine ply and would benefit long term from an overall treatment with Wood Hardener and s coat of paint.
