Mr Google has just advised me that the rainfall in Logan from 1st August to today 22nd October = 83 days is a total of 58 m.m. Equates to just over 2 inches of rain.
Now Logan is virtually a suburb of Brisbane with a population of well in excess of 300000 so it covers a huge area.
At the moment there is no such thing as the green green grass of home.
It appears that there is not much change looking forward to November.
Recipe for those bloody bushfires.
Hope I am wrong.
What is happening in your area?
Good weather for my Golf, although I say that it "never rains on a golf course."

We are just up the road at Eight Mile Plains.
Went for a drive around the suburbs on the way back from visiting my Son at Algester. An oasis at his place as they have a bore with solar driven pump providing almost constant sprinklers (it runs free when he is not pumping) ... but the suburbs were all brown, hardly a green lawn to be seen with a surprising lot of straggly weeds about the place in what are usually well manicured 'burbs. Looks depressing, but all the mango trees are full of young fruit.
My rain water tank is empty for the first time for years (I foolishly depleted it by using the Karsha to water blast clean all my paving, expecting replenishing spring rain that didn't eventuate .. buggar) & I am using tap water sparingly on my kitchen garden. It has its summer shade cloth cover on already and will soon be covered in sugarcane mulch and planted with pumpkins and with cucumbers on the trellis.
We can expect water use restrictions along with re commissioning of the recycled water infrastructure; Gold Coast desalination on max output & diversion of water to Toowoomba; maybe even trucking water into a few communities too before long. I expect that the local councils will restrict the drawing of water from bores shortly as they installed a network of bores during the millennium drought & will need that source themselves.
Shades of Hanrahan ("we'll all be rooned said Hanrahan ...... " ) LOL
Well all be rooned, said Hanrahan, In accents most forlorn, Outside the church, ere Mass began, One frosty Sunday morn.
The congregation stood about, Coat-collars to the ears, And talked of stock, and crops, and drought, As it had done for years.
Its looking crook, said Daniel Croke; Bedad, its cruke, me lad, For never since the banks went broke Has seasons been so bad.
Its dry, all right, said young ONeil, With which astute remark He squatted down upon his heel And chewed a piece of bark.
And so around the chorus ran Its keepin dry, no doubt. Well all be rooned, said Hanrahan, Before the year is out.
The crops are done; yell have your work To save one bag of grain; From here way out to Back-o-Bourke Theyre singin out for rain.
Theyre singin out for rain, he said, And all the tanks are dry. The congregation scratched its head, And gazed around the sky.
There wont be grass, in any case, Enough to feed an ass; Theres not a blade on Caseys place As I came down to Mass.
If rain dont come this month, said Dan, And cleared his throat to speak Well all be rooned, said Hanrahan, If rain dont come this week.
A heavy silence seemed to steal On all at this remark; And each man squatted on his heel, And chewed a piece of bark.
We want an inch of rain, we do, ONeil observed at last; But Croke maintained we wanted two To put the danger past.
If we dont get three inches, man, Or four to break this drought, Well all be rooned, said Hanrahan, Before the year is out.
In Gods good time down came the rain; And all the afternoon On iron roof and window-pane It drummed a homely tune.
And through the night it pattered still, And lightsome, gladsome elves On dripping spout and window-sill Kept talking to themselves.
It pelted, pelted all day long, A-singing at its work, Till every heart took up the song Way out to Back-o-Bourke.
And every creek a banker ran, And dams filled overtop; Well all be rooned, said Hanrahan, If this rain doesnt stop.
And stop it did, in Gods good time; And spring came in to fold A mantle oer the hills sublime Of green and pink and gold.
And days went by on dancing feet, With harvest-hopes immense, And laughing eyes beheld the wheat Nid-nodding oer the fence.
And, oh, the smiles on every face, As happy lad and lass Through grass knee-deep on Caseys place Went riding down to Mass.
While round the church in clothes genteel Discoursed the men of mark, And each man squatted on his heel, And chewed his piece of bark.
Therell be bush-fires for sure, me man, There will, without a doubt; Well all be rooned, said Hanrahan, Before the year is out.

Cupie, Thanks for your excellent remarks. Very interesting poems and other narratives.
I have saved the article to digest at a later date.
I was born and bred in the Queensland outback and I just love the bush and all it has to offer.
As I think you do.
cheers neighbour.

We received about 25 mm or 1 inch of rain last night here in our section of Logan.
But!!! we would be happy to receive a similar amount in the next few days.

After having it so wet the last couple of years, here in the ACT it has completely turned around.
No spring growth at all. At least the weeds haven't grown. Grass crispy. It's too early. We usually get reasonable rain in October/November.
Not many flowers have bloomed and the possums are desperate for a feed. They ate the buds off the geraniums this week. Will see if I can deter them by leaving out some extra carrots I have.
We had a little rain two nights this week but didn't really even wet the pavement.
It's quite cold, at least not as hot as it should be this time of year. And, Overcast. Rarely see the sun.
Forecast possible rain this week. We'll see.

My empty rain tank was filled with a rainstorm last week, so I'm back to tank water for my kitchen garden for a bit but the summer bugs have arrived so that's the end of the veges until next Autumn.
Beautiful drizzly rain day today with a few showers. I'll have to 'weed & feed' the lawn so that it will survive through to XMAS with a bit of luck/rain.
Maybe a planting of sweet corn amongst the pumpkins, so that it looks like the gardening is all worthwhile, might be the go. Hard to go wrong with sweet corn especially if you give it a dose of worm casing fluid at planting.
Gee, I wish that I had a back yard spear/bore like my Son has.
BTW ... I too had a raid from the local Possums but being a bit of a S%^& head I gave them a feed of rat sack (not carrots) but that didn't work so I installed a cone of pegged down wire around the tomatoes.
