Opera house nets for catching yabbies have been banned for a number of years in Vic, not sure about the other states. Hoop nets only allowed now, EVEN on private property, other restrictions also.
A couple of years ago I attended a presentation by the Platypus Conservancy, hosted by the Seymour based Whiteheads Creek Landcare group and the Seymour U3A. It was particularly aimed at casual observers reporting sightings of Platypuses in the local area.
Yes Platypuses is the correct plural as it comes from Greek not Latin.
I found the presentation extremely interesting and very informative. A real eye opener for those of us that new only the basics.
I believe that they will do presentations pretty much for any groups that ask.
