Ok, I'm cheesed off and maybe I shouldnt be because we dont attend touristy places often.
It all started years ago when a mate and I arrived at the 12 Apostles modern car park (we now live nearby in Camperdown) and eager to look we found we needed to pay an entry fee. We turned around. Funny enough there was 3 bus loads of Asian tourists that arrived in the meantime... what a cash taker!
It isnt the money its the locking up of sights that is natural that grates with me. Yes, the other side of the story is that the money (a portion at least) goes towards facilities but that doesnt justify imo... or does it? I suspect there will be comments both ways. Wilsons Promontory I can understand as dogs arent allowed with the fragile fauna and a huge area to maintain, but a viewing platform? At least that what it seemed to be from the gate
Addly enough just down the road about 3kms you can look over your head west bound to see the old London Bridge now no longer a bridge, probably better than the set up back there and much cheaper :)
