Welcome to the gang jpd1009, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I used to use yellow 'egg cartons' from Clark Rubber. I say "used to" because I was told I was hot in bed. So had to stop using due to sweating too much.
What did you think I meant when I said I was hot in bed
I now just use a pure wool underlay and cotton sheets and doona cover. All that has made a big improvement.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

We use a memory foam topper, ours is a Tontine one bought from Spotlight. Made our too hard bed super comfortable. Have tried an egg shell one and it was nowhere near as comfortable. Memory foam is also easy to cut to exact size with an electric or very sharp knife to round corners etc if needed.

You can also get Memory Foam in the Egg Crate form, I have a mattress with a memory foam topper built in so if I were adding one for comfort I would get memory foam in either design.
You could just get either style of just foam and use a mattress protector to hold it in place/make it easier to make the bed because of the foam grabbing onto any blankets or sheets without a cover on it.

We had a brand new, high quality mattress specially designed for our caravan and also added a sturdy mattress topper. Outcome was that our caravan bed is still very uncomfortable and we have learned to live with it ( and my back pain every time I sleep on the caravan bed intensifies). I believe it is because of the ridiculous slats that pretend to be a mattress base which in our case are as good as useless. Has anyone modified (removed) these useless slats and replaced them with something more sturdy?

We have a 'Hilton' 75mm memory foam topper from Pillowtalk. So good we bought another for our bed at home !. Not cheap but worth every cent. We both have pretty severe arthritis and this topper takes all the pressure off your bones and aching bits. Unreal !!
Chasing a mattress topper, preferably fitted.
What do others use?
Thanks
Cheers,
Peter
