Having read on forums many interesting comments about weight limits I decided to weigh my van. SHOCK horror to find its 400kg over the stated maximum on the plate. AND its only partially loaded. If I remove the water, the tools and the gas bottles it will still be more than 200kg over the weight stated o...

Mid last year I put a post on here about being caught in the floods at Long Waterhole, Winton. We are there now. The place still looks like it has been nuked, even the track marks from the front end loader that towed us out are still. The waterhole is almost dry, ground just dried out mud. Hopefully this p...

I virtually always rough camp in deep bush and therefore dig my own latrine however I'm currently following a caravanning friend as he and his wife travel to some very out of the way places in west NSW, SA and WA. We didn't really consider our odyssey to the east had started until we left Norseman. This was not the first time I had been to Eucla. In 1956 when I was 7 years old, I travelled with my parents across the Nullarbor in an FJ Holden. Very different journey in those days! The Eucla stopover was down on the fl...

I see the Grey Nomad Times has a story about a new caravanner's partner who refuses to drive while towing. I certainly can understand someone who hasn't had experience with towing having that fear. Luckily my wife is not too fazed by doing some of the driving with the van or our boat behind. We've towed...

I'm finally getting around to commenting on our one and only caravanning experience to date, 3 months thru to Sydney and back, and throwing in some pics. Did this trip today for the first time towing the Trailblazer gooseneck behind the Hilux .
