Anyone travelling to the cape, check the road conditions, as Weipa has had 28mm of rain since 9am. RACQ alerts don't cover small creeks that will rise very quickly. Remember you may be some distance from help if you run into trouble. Take care Darmc

The Pacific Hwy south of the Tweed River has now one lane each way open to get out of and get into QLD. The authorities have asked if you are not on the road in that area now please wait until tomorrow so the heavy traffic has a chance to clear up a bit
