The Hunter freeway from west of Newcastle (near Newcastle link road on F3/M1) to the New England Hwy near Branxton will open tomorrow (Sat. 22nd March). If heading north there is no need to go via Cessnock or through Maitland etc. Will save a lot of frustating traffic and time. Patto.

Has anyone been on this road in the last 12 months? Www propose going there in a months time tacking our 15ft caravan with us. We are experienced at travelling on dirt roads. Any help/ideas would be welcome. Tedmim

hi would you be able to tell me which way would be better to tow a caravan from Toowoomba to coffs harbour , I haven't towed any thing for a long time the caravan is approx. 17 feet and I drive a v6 triton not the most powerful vehicle so just after your opinions thanks . cliff

If anyone is heading up this way I would think long and hard about staying in Rocky or Mackay. lots of water on the road around Clairview and some strong gusts of wind. truckie was saying on radio at one stage he was down to 70k. take care and stay safe

Are both in a bad way, damage everywhere so please take it easy on these roads, some sections in many places are in really bad condition. I can't pick out sections, just take it easy as there is a lot of damage on these roads.

The road to the main weir and Burke and wills campsite at Mindee lakes Nsware a very corrugated road for app 6 or 8 km's.
