Presently at Jindabyne. Heading tomorrow to Monaro Highway via turnoff at Berridale and through Dalgety etc. Map shows some 15ks or so of dirt road. Anyone been over that lately? Ok for caravan? Ian

Great article about the Mereenie Loop: It is called Larapinta Drive in "The Australian Touring Atlas". I am about to head down that way and wonder if anyone can tell me about its suitability for a 2WD Toyota HiAce? I've heard it can be done but would rather not risk it if I could get bogged...

The Kings Highway NSW - the main route between Canberra and Batemans Bay (or that part of the south coast) is closed. With all the wet weather there has been a landslide at Pooh Corner. For those travelling on the far south coast, they announced this morning that one lane on the Brown Mountain road (between Cooma and Bega) will be open tomorrow in time for Easter traffic. They've worked hard.

The Kings Highway will be closed from 1pm - 2pm on Mon 1st April, also Tues 2nd and Wed 3rd. They are doing some blasting. There are several roadworks on the route - but on the weekend they don't work so it took the same time to do the trip today as usual.

In case you haven't heard, Brown Mountain - the way you take from Bega to Cooma to Canberra, is still closed after recent rains and a landslide.

Watching ABC news just now. Both Forbes and Parkes are under threat. Forbes being evacuated at the moment. Which means the Newell will be closed. Oops, he also just said Nerrandera being evacuated. Won't be heading north for some time. Also 9,000 have been evacuated from areas of Wagga Wagga.
