A few caravan parks have a "book exchange" in the laundry. I found a book by Di Morrisey, liked it so much I actually paid for another and am enjoying that too. She writes what you might call "chick-lit" but her novels are set in various places of Australia, and cover some of the local history. Interesting if thats your kind of fiction.

Finished "the Silent Country" already Ma? Just received my copy 4 Christmas, saving it up for a nice little trip down to the coast.... sitting on the edge of the beach under a banksia tree at Tathra  reading is my idea of heaven... Ahhh, the Serenity! (Got "the Castle" for Christmas too)

Robyn stop reading your piles and go and get them seen to, it will be much more comfortable!!

Probably a silly question, but have you read  XAVIER HERBERT,  ION IDRIESS,  BILL HARNEY,  DOUGLAS LOCKWOOD,  GLENVILLE PIKE, or HECTOR HOLTHOUSE ?

Yeah thanks xina, Herbert's Poor fellow Mt Country I bought when it first came out, I only wish I kept it. Anyway free Australiana ebooks can be downloaded at http://gutenberg.net.au/ which might interest you, there are a lot of books on there on authors who have died before 1955, have a squiz. The others I haven't read but vcan probably find out on the internet after some digging around, which I like doing anyway. Anything can be found if you stick to it and have patience.

         Another great author Kathy Reichs, her character is Temperence Brennan a forensic anthropoligist, this is the series of books that the TV show Bones is based on.

The reason I go for ebooks as you can carry hundreds on a pda, which I have about 6 of at the moment and can carry almost all of them on either memory stick or just on cds, If I carried them as paper version I would need a trailer. I went over seas in 2002 and carried a few books with me so I could read when ever had bad weather and could not do anything else and also to read on the plane. Also on pda's you can have games and applications, a good pda is a Palm TungstenE and can be had on eBay pretty easy, as that is where I got my other 5 pda's (mainly for spares) as the Franklin eBookman is not made anymore.
