Goodbye Basil, I haven't been on here long, but have read a lot of your past posts and had a good laugh at many,
I suppose you have your reasons for leaving, whatever they are I am sure you will be missed by many and good luck whatever you do.

It means that Basil has closed his account and is no longer a member of the GN's.
He will be missed I can tell you.

What's going on here?
We know they're on ABB (Baby Boomers) but why they're leaving GN would probably be known only to them.
The get-together confusion may have something to do with it, but I'm guessing.
That's what happens when there are mixed messages and total confusion.
Keep you chins up Nomads. Cheers

From what I can see, Ma started organising the Mudgee/NSW rallies for both GN and ABB members. It appears from reading the posts that a few posts by members were put in there that were totally unrelated to the rallies and only served to confuse the issue, they should never have been placed there in the first instance.
From what is written on the Mudgee/NSW rally threads, GN Management (I assume Cindy) has asked ABB or Ma to take their arrangements elsewhere, so if you really need an answer, maybe it is best if you direct you questions to Cindy, or she needs to make a post on this matter.
Playing guessing games is not going to clarify things for anyone.

Many threads tend to wander all over the place as happens in general conversation.

Agree with your there JRH and if the posting that CP is sooking about is this one
Love the new Avatar Mick. Cheers, xina
I take that as a aside in a conversation . Are we going to be dictated to by a member who has made 3 posts in 3 months ?

One of the things I love about this forum is that conversations take place in much the same way as around the campfire and I am sure that newcomers will eventually find that a little diversion now and again is good. After all we are all friends here and that is what makes the forum so good.

Me too JRH. I love the banter, the informative and the entertaining, frivolous banter.
Sometimes we even stick to the subject.
It's a forum for discussion, not a library.

And guess what Chris, we usually get back on topic eventually.
Why let a topic get in the way of a good conversation??????????

G'day ..
I doubt that many of the current regular 'posters' will remember me, but for a year or so I too was very much a regular.
What I enjoyed most, was the discussion about matters relating to caravanning & travelling this great country, the sharing of experiences and tips and the like. It was all done very openly without fear of ridicule for a dumb question or an incorrect answer/view.
As the forum moved more towards political comment & then personal attacks, I decided to move on.
I sometimes come back, maybe every few weeks or so & have a look at the posts. Let me say that you are probably in the main, a great bunch of people, but I can't believe the agro & undercurrents at play. I think maybe that some have hidden agendas & are playing with you, some are not what they seem to be.
In any case I am happy with my decision & remain very sad that such a good caravanners website has changed so much.
cheers

Au revoir from me as well . Trolls are allowed to come in and attack members and takes days to be deleted but let there be criticism of admin and they are deleted within 2 minutes , Yes I know admin will say they were away at the time and didnt see the trolls posts . I wonder if admin have heard of having moderationers to help keep a eye on the site for them when they are not around .

I'm hoping that this is what we can now get back to. The forum has the potential to continue to be the source of much shared information as it relates to (but not limited to) Grey Nomads in general.
Members, new or old, should be able to ask any question, no matter how basic or how complex it may seem without fear of being criticised or rubbished for doing so.

Couldn't agree more Jim, I am still here though I am also a member of ABB and I have considered moving on once or twice but one never achieves anything by resigning so I remain and hope that I can help in some small way to get this forum back to the nice friendly place it used to be and can be once more.
Instead of making some sarcastic remark stop and think how that remark may affect the recipient, if you have nothing nice to say or helpful to say then say nothing. This does not include friendly banter and repartee.
I am not criticizing anyone here just expressing an opinion.

Well said. Nuff said!
My thoughts were that ABB Forum originated out of concern that a certain s/stirrer was trying to get this site closed down and we wanted to be ready to have a meeting place set up in case that eventuated.
It has gradually developed a life of its own and as such now stands alone on its own strength.
The petty bickering between those that choose to stay on one or the other is rather sad to the benefit of no-one. Both forums have lots to offer noobies and old-bies alike. One is never too old to learn.
So far I frequent both forums quite openly and enjoy the repartee from both sides.
I suppose you have your reasons for leaving, whatever they are I am sure you will be missed by many and good luck whatever you do.
