A whole week of pellets, cleaning etc and he was still hanging around.

Seems everyone here is getting ready for the mice.
Have been to two supermarkets and they have sold out of all rat bait and traps and stuff.
Managed to get some mothballs.
Just hope there aren't any down in the compound to get into the van.
Guess I will know when we bring it up next week.

you know over the last 2 months i have set 4 traps with peanut butter as bait, at home and get 1 mouse every 2 weeks, until last week, 1 of the traps has gone missing i have turned the house upside down for 2 days, its still missing

Little furry things really don't frighten me, I was more annoyed at the inconvenience they have been causing. Very few scare me. Have killed many a redback found in my potplants, Crickets inside the house in the last plague, picked them up and taken outside.
He actually looked quite cute, while still alive.

Hate mice - might have to get the bait stuff out and under the house - and in the van, currently in the back yard -already hace ****roach baits through the house - they're nasty, ugly things, though my daughter tells me they are incredibly clean - it is people who are dirty - so I make sure I clean up really well to keep them at bay. There is no way I could ever pick up a mouse - dead or alive!!!! There was one time, I got up at 3am (years ago now), went down to kitchen, frightened a mouse who ran up the curtain, I jumped up on the kitchen bench - sat there staring at mouse till husband got up at 6am - he chased it an caught it - or I would have been out of the house until I knew it was gone!!!

Jules, I have visions of you sitting on a kitchen bench from 3am till 6am. If it was already up the curtain and staring at you, probably as terrified as you, why didn't you just go back to bed and worry about it in the morning. It would have still been there.
milo, in normal circumstances I would have let it run, I don't make a habit of killing little things, except mozzies and spiders, but it was in my van and I have had enough problems in there to date without a mouse probably eating wiring etc and doing more damage. Didn't have much choice if I wanted my sanity back.

I once found a nest of baby mice, all pink a new. Still makes me shiver thinking about it. Mice don't normally bother me either, but I think it was that I had to kill these little pink things.
I hate snakes too, and spiders. My b-i-l catches spiders and lets them go outside. Not me, they get sprayed or stomped on!

It is with deep regret that my attempt with the Naphthalene Flakes to beat the bastards are as useless as Tits on a Bull..I put a Biscuit in their favorite spot and guess what............They carried the biscuit off...I'll try Peppermint Now...Or else It could be the End of Australia as we knew it

I am terrified of mice, so much so I refused to move into our newly built home until Kevin could guarantee it was a mouse free zone, I had spotted one in the linen cupboard just as I was about to start unpacking, so I slept at our daughter's for a week until I was sure the coast was clear. My only other fear in the animal kingdom is Magpies (the feathered variety, not the footy team) in their swooping season. They absolutely scare me witless; I would walk a kilometre out of my way to avoid them. Jan

At Port Hughes SA at present and the mouse plague is here big time. The park mgt gave us natphalene flakes to put around the van and awning and seems to keep them away, as long as you can put up with that smell. If not all you can smell is dead mice
Echuca is still having problems with mice and hard to get bait
still not catching fish

They are everywhere Ken, Reading a Maryborough paper today, all hardware stores are out of mouse traps and poison, so a problem up this way too. Unbelievable the plagues we've had, locusts, mice, crickets, the list goes on. Beth, you've caught me out, this one was so slow I could have put a lead on it and taken it for a walk, must have eaten so much Talon to stupefy itself. It did try to get away from me but at a slow waddle. Kayjay, birds don't worry me, love them. My mum had a pet maggie when she was a girl. It would wait at the gate for her to come home from school then tell her all the news of the day walking home. Yes it talked.

They have come as far as Yass. Was at Maccas tonight and as we pulled up saw them running along the front wall in the headlights. Didn't see any along the Hume from Albury though.

If you're driving through them just be careful, I remember years ago when the mouse plague was in the Wimmera there was that many squashed on the road that vehicles, even buses if they had to brake hard just slid off the road. That was on the main highway between Horsham, Stawell & Ararat.

Marg is almost 1 mtr long, we are usi=ually on the road during her down time, she sleeps fro about 3-4 months and does not eat during that time, little wombat (son) calls around to check if she is awake and maybe need a feed and change her water.

We have just returned from a trip to Rockhampton to pick up another van. We stayed the first night on the way, at Nindigully. We were by the river having happy hour when I noticed a mouse. It was scurrying here there and everywhere, which was all fine.
I felt something run up my leg and jumped accordingly and stated the mouse had run up my leg. Of course the Other Half thought it was my over active imagination from having just seen one.
Next thing he seen it scurry under my chair and disappear. The little blighter was on the back of the chair near my shoulder. It played this game all night. We were in a tent, knowing we would probably return with a van. I suggested he do the back of the ute up securely just in case Mickey decided to hitch a ride.
"She'll be jake."
So into the tent for a good nights sleep to hear Mickey run up the side of the tent then slide back down, by his toenails, for half the night, I kid you not.
Got up the next morning to half the stuff in the ute chewed to bits, little sh it.
"Hes gooone." Famous last words from the Other Half.
Pulled into Theodore that night, campfire going, dinner bubbling, bourbon long and cold and who should peek out at me from the ute back, Mickey!!
Sooo in the dark we had to pull everything out of the ute to chase the buggar of a thing. Mickey won, but hopefully has vacated.
Below is a picture of our camp, my chair is the red one and the tent to the right.
Great night though.
