Hi Everyone, in the grey nomad times it says we can use vinegar in the toilet.
Is this to clean it on the outside with vinegar and water or to use vinegar instead of chemicals for the break down process? thanks.

speaking of hose bags I just roll mine up into one of those eco bags from the super market and I bought a thingy from a cheap shop $2 to roll my elec lead on. Vinegar smells as bad as pee.

I dissolve two caps of Napisan in one litre of water and then add a few drops of Eucalyptus oil for a fresh fragrance and add the whole lot to the bottom tank. I also add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the 20 litre top tank and I spray all the seals with Olive Oil to keep them moist, I also spray a little olive Oil around the bowl as it helps to prevent marks sticking when used.

Don't be confused with the brand name napisan....use only the generic nappy soaker, either Woolies or Coles brand as they have the highest (34%) sodium percarbonate (active ingredient) content and of course definitely a lot cheaper.
The 3kg Woolies is $8.99 from memory and lasts quite a long time.

Chris - I wrote to Firefly a week or so ago saying she was missed - she has been very busy and hasn't been able to do much more than have a quick read every now and then.

I don't have a porta loo but have a 20ltr bucket with toilet seat and lid fitted and just put about 50mm water in the bottom and a splash of home brand bleach, I hope that's not a no no? I usually sparay glen 20 around the inside and seat after cleaning it out. But it does seem to work. I like the Napi San (or no name brand) and eucalyptus oil though. I might try eucalyptus oil in the bucket instead of glen 20.

I used the name Napisan just as a type but actually use the homebrand ones. Whether it is Woolworths or Aldi at only 2-3 dollars, they all work just as well.

Sorry folks I should have been more specific, it is definitely Woolies generic or Coles home brand Napisan not, I repeat not the branded product, the Home Brand products work much better.

I would quite describe it as 'water' but it is definitely a liquid type sludge which does not resemble anything specific.
I find if the van is parked up for a period of time, it does not work as well as when the van is traveling and the contents are aggitated.
You only have to consider what this product was originally designed for to get your answer as to whether or not it works!!
The point is....it is not a costly exercise to try the generic nappy soaker...so why not give it a go.
