Have two weeks with nothing to do, Where will I go??
Thought I would start with a night at Greens Lake, then perhaps make my way through Bendigo, Castlemaine, then perhaps over to Maldon and Avoca.
Theres something to see all along the way I know. Usually rush through them, now will take as long as I like. Never been to Maldon or Avoca, just a diffeerent way to go.
Anyone out in that direction camping at the moment?

Thanks pauline, not needed for anything here till 21st so see no point in just sitting around waiting for Xmas.
Good time to go HW, another 3 weeks and everywhere will be ''choc-a-block, good little touring area you have picked, when in Bendigo, take a trip on the talking tram, not expensive and very informative ride,
Happy and safe travels, and behave yourself,
Oh !! alright you don't have to behave, ?? dazren

One place we found unexpectedly in Bendigo was the old Chinese Joss-house. they do a guided tour, which was for a dontion when we were there. Fascinating!
Enjoy, Marj, may your days be warm and dry.

Gday...
Maldon is a lovely, historic town - has been preserved (renovated) extremely well.
Take the time to walk around the town and the old gold areas not far out of town ... the amount of holes and mullock hills is intriguing.
I stayed at Castlemaine van park and day-tripped all around the area for a week or so .... was a great time (despite 4 days or July rain )
Cheers
John

It's about time! Enjoy it like it's meant to be enjoyed. Give Myrtle a pat on the dash every now and then for reassurance. I pat Rosy's dash quite often. She's a good girl.

No such luck HW. Have to stick around home at the moment. Might go back up to Brisbane for Christmas but to tell you the truth I'm a bit cautious about going by myself, what with all the floods etc. will make decision closer to christmas.

You have planned a nice trip.
Been quite a few years since we were in the Avoca area. The Pyrenees is a great area.
There used to be a pie shop in Avoca that had an amazing range of pies. Their more normal pies were amongst the best we have ever had. The bakery was very good as well.
The Moonambel area has some fantastic wineries, but some of the wines have a hefty price.
We have camped at Teddington Reservoir (Camps 6 Vic 447) a number of times as it is one of our favourite campgrounds, but it is not pet friendly. There are plenty of other good camps in the area.
One place that surprised us was St Arnaud. A delightful town with some interesting buildings.
