Thanks for the feedback everyone, whewie, scary stuff, hope they get it sorted soon. A lot of other providers use Bigpond as their third party provider (go through Bigpond for their services) so some other providers would be affected too.

Now I find out. Bigpond email down.
I have just spent an hour trying to map network connections, troubleshoot network connections,re-allocate com port all for nothing.
I should have watched the news this morning and saved an hour.

Thanks Boroma,
You would think after the Voda Phone stink they would have done a survey of their own system before it got to this.
Don't forget you don't have to be with Bigpond to be affected, as some of the other providers go through Telstra also as a third party provider, as do some go through Optus.......so probably not just Bigpond customers affected.

Makes you wonder though Boroma, these hackers are just getting smarter and smarter, the tech experts have trouble keeping ahead of them and usually something has to happen before they plug the hole!

My email is down, also. I tried to fix from this end , but to no avail. It seems someone has hacked the tech help, and all our details are at risk, so they shut down the system. Its a bit of a pain, but, hopefully they will fix it soon. Bill

My thoughts are Vic that if the hackers are clever, surely there must be some decent folk just as clever on this side of the fence as well.

No matter how sophisticated a lock they invent some bright spark will make a key to fit. Unfortunate but true.

Yes it is sad, if they put that talent to good use on the right side of the law the world would be a much better place.

Once they get it sorted might be an idea to change all our passwords. Who knows whose looking at them now.

Great idea. I try to change my passwords frequently, and would advise others to do the same. The only problem is remembering the bloody things. Its not really good to write them down.I gave my religion as Jedi at the last census, and it was recognised as a religion! Bill

Seems to me that in todays day and age the bad usually outweighs the good, they can make more money by foul means than good and usually they don't have to work as hard to do it.
the Bigpond Email server is down in my area (Perth inner north suburbs)
been down since yesterday afternoon, last night and this morning. Can still access internet (eg; GN) but that did go down for awhile last night too.
When I rang Telstra Tech support they had a recorded message to say they had problems and they were working on it. Anyone else had problems?
Mine went down late last night Vic. I was on the phone telling Brett when I logged in here and seen this thread.
Now I don't have to try to ring them, thanks mate.
I am near Newcastle so it must be country wide.
Vic,
We have the same problem here in Victoria. Apparrently the service has been "hacked" and they are working on getting it back up.
Brownie
Correct Brownie, hackers! Should be hacked to pieces.
