JC even does hospital visits .. hehe .. that was the last time I saw them !
Jim .. you got me thinking how many I'd met .. had a look at the listing and came up with 31 .. so yes.. it does add up ..
What I found Cannylass, is that if you can be friends on here first, it seems that it automatically flows on once folk have met ..
its good !

Your thread on "Where is everybody heading" is a beauty Cannylass, helps to arrange a meet-up if you've got some idea where others are going to be. Where are you heading, maybe we can meet up somewhere too?

I haven't met too many people on here but there are heaps I would love to meet. I've met Yeoeleven who is staying at my place for a couple of months. I haven't met Vic but he is spending a night or so at my place - I've spoken to his sister but not met her. I've met the wonderful RVTraveller, Neil, who spending some time in my neck of the woods in the dreaded town of Albania. And I have met the multi-talented and very personable Mr Blaze and his lovely wife Therese.
That's not many but also not bad seeing I have not hit the road yet, except to go to Albania in several buying frenzies to stock up on essentials for hitting the road.
I am really looking forward to meeting a whole heap of people who I feel very much aligned to.

I've met quite a few now, either by a chance meeting in a van park, or by arrangement along the way. Living in a van park creates the opportunity to anyone passing through SA. Living in Cairns I met several prominent members as well. I haven't attended actual gatherings, but I joined the small group of 10 at Greens Lake for New Year. People have approached me in shopping centre car parks after seeing "granny" on my car, or they recognised the car from my avatar. You just have to get out there. I also made a special effort to catch up with Cupie and Mrs. Cupie in Brisbane this last trip, and Jules. The GN forum is the link, the introduction from which friendships are formed. Meeting the people is the bonus. I love it!

We are friends - even those who haven't met in person - tho some of us do meet up - my first meets were Beth54 and Travelbug - the Ma and Blue - Esmeralda - Shadyandme(who stayed at my place for about 8 weeks) - Cruising Granny - and Billeeeeee! Hoping to meet lots more - funny thing, when you do meet up, you feel like you already know each other, just from interaction on this site. A true "social networking site"

You are so right Jules....
Because of "knowing" people from the forum, when you do meet up it feels like you are with old friends and there are no uncomfortable silences. Even though we are a diverse lot...the conversation flows easily.
Like Ma said in another post, "I've never met a nomad that I didn't like".

Totally agree, we have only met Gubby and feel like we know everyone else.
It's a bit difficult to meet others when we have Bass Strait between us.
Look forward to meeting more this year on our annual pilgrimage north.
"Noisy party" I can handle, hangover - I can't.
Cheers

The first person I 'clicked' with was Happywanderer, Marj. And yet, we still haven't met.
The first nomad I met was Jonathan at Mareeba, when I was staying at Malanda. I've also met Jules, Travel Bug, Gubby and Mrs Gubby, Animal Carer,,,,I'd better stop there as I'm sure to forget to mention someone.
I've never been a member of a site like this, but I really enjoy being a part of Grey Nomads. I live alone, so you're all good company for me. I'm at my sisters at Tin Can Bay at the moment and she just said to me, you'd be lost without your computer. I said yes, I sure would be.
I'm really looking forward to meeting many more of you this year. Either in SEQ or at our get together in early June, which will be further north.

hi all, this is great, we are new on the forum but i can see we will be on the lookout for all the GN,s on the road, we met a couple 9yrs ago while in Darwin and became very close travelling all over oz, and visit each others homes quite often, they sold their van last year and we miss them sorely as travelling companians, we will never replace them but hope to meet with as many GN,s as we can along the way, we hopefully have a few years left travelling this great land and are off again to the sunshine coast in a couple weeks. bye to all and safe travels. greyghosts

Hi,
Welcome to the site and don't forget to obtain a "Grey Nomad" sticker to place on the rear of your van.
Then we will know how smart and friendly you are when we see you somewhere.

On the other hand, I haven't met ANY of the people on here yet.
That is most probably because of my inclination to head into the quieter areas and to avoid crowded van parks as much as I can so I'm certainly not going to criticise.
Still, I am sure I'll bump into a few people around the parks anyway.

Most of the "meet ups" are outside caravan parks Joe. Unless it is an organised get together like the one that is happening up QLD later this year.
Usually we meet along the road somewhere or at a "freebie"

Joe, I've never gone into a caravan park yet, although there will be times I might need to. Some of the nomads I have met for coffee as they have come through Echuca, others I have met at get togethers at Greens Lake more than once. Others I have met on here I can't wait to meet when I head north in a few months.
It sound like a lot of you folks on the forum are friends or know each other
