I'm starting to miss the convenience of being able to move my home if there is something annoying close to where we're camped.
Since we have been back home, at least 2 neighbours have moved in nearby that seem to enjoy their loud doof doof music. Unluckily, I do not enjoy it quite as much as them, especially after it's been going on for many hours at a time during the day.
They also play it occasionally at night & have been known to do it up till 5am in the morning. I called the police at about midnight once, they never came out. We finally fell asleep then woke again at 4am & it was still going. We rang again and they finally came out at nearly 5am which was about 10min after they had stopped. The police got back in their car & left. (before anyone mentions it, yes I know the police may have been busy with a real emergency)
At least at night we can ring the police but during the day we're stuck with it as there are no noise restrictions in daylight.
Some things about caravan life you just can't beat.

Im hearing ya there, our kids are at that age now where doof doof is the preferred weapon of choice when it comes to ruffling my feathers, when the last one turns 18 this year its gonna be a ok weve done our bit with you lot now were off to enjoy ourselves scenario, then pack up the bus and go where the roads take us, Oh why did Elvis have to eat all them hamburgers and cark it!

Eww Jon, I do feel for you mate. Noisy neighbours are never a joy no matter what time of the day or night are they.
If it happens from time to time, special occasions etc, you don't mind but because thats their joy, doesn't make it yours for sure.
Hope it settles for you.
Have you tried talking to them or they look like the unapproachable type?

I've heard of people putting on a very loud ABBA tape and giving them some of their own back. Maybe that will help.

Yes know what you mean about the noise.Not my favourite sound either.
About time they produced a device that cancelled out the noise for home or Motorhome/caravan use.
Like the noise cancelling earphones or in the upmarket cars, a device that cancels out outside and road noise.
Must be a big market for a home based model
I would buy one.

there is something you can do about noise at anytime day or night, suggest you talk to them first then contact your local council asap

Geee, I am sure glad I live in a village for over 55's Hylda and Jon. We don't have that problem thank goodness but I have in the past and sure don't miss it. maybe it's time to just hook up that home on wheels and get out of there for a while.

Geez Womby you should have mentioned it before, they were doing site works at our place yesterday (Tuesday) I could have had several truckloads of grass delivered to your front door mate, free of charge.

The council is a good option for the daytime hours, but they don't generally work at night.
I'd be worried about fronting them, as there could be repercussions...you hear of that all the time.
ABBA music might work, or maybe some classical.

The council will provide you with a data sheet to keep a record of the noise and date's and time's etc, after 2-4 weeks of keeping the record council will contact them and get it stopped.
Maybe a good idea to get one of your other neighbours to also fill in the data sheet.

Our neighbour the "Ferels"....had a game box played on TV........Dooof Doof......all night every night....yet when your outside you could barely hear it.....but in bed .......the sound would come up through the wooden floors
rang police many times......no help.........I think it must have broken... .its been rather quiet lately........or is it a lull before the storm

With us its not necessarily the neighbors themselves, but the the traffic... trucks buses, lotsa cars, and at night we often hear hoons doing burnouts, and fishtailing every time it rains. We moved into the back bedroom which faces away from the street. Much better.
I feel for you Jon and Hylda, its hard to escape that kind of noise.

know feeling of loud noise,got a young bloke next door who likes to play loud music..went out and had a few words with him and told him to turn it down a bit...he didn't like it but the noise level has dropped considerable...I don't mind any type of music at the right volume,some people just can't understand not everybody likes ear spliting music...

Hi Wombat, I agree with your comment, also your second post re getting the neighbours to do their bit, after all everyone suffers. It also reinforces with the police and council that the problem is wide spread and not just a single complainant.
If the house is a rental then approaching the agent can help as they can speak to the tenants re their behaviour.
In my own personal experience of discussing a noise complaint with a neighbour he was arrested later in the evening, not for the noise complaint but breaching parole obligations.....better outcome that one!

No problems here either. During the night, I sometimes hear the cars doing wheelies or racing on the highway, but it's far enough away to not bother me.
Gerty, your place sounds like my Mum & Dad's place years ago. Now it's worse. In those early years it was traffic noise, and later the produce place across the other side of the train lines. The train, you got used to.
These days my brother owns that same house and rents it to my son and a cousin. They're lease runs out next month and they're outa there! It's ferals-ville these days. An example...a used condom thrown onto the front lawn...a ball of fire on the front doorstep...people next door fighting and yelling all night long...

In Cairns the comfort and convenience of park living was voided by the noisy neighbours over the creek from the park. The stat housing has since sold those properties as they couldn't manage the noisy tenants. If they weren't playing techno doof doof, they were having drunk fights, 24/7. The residents of the neighbourhood and the park met with Police, Council and State Housing officials, and selling was the conclusion. Unfortunately in private rental you don't have much control. If they are tenants of public housing you can complain and maybe get a result, eventually. Good luck with that. That doof doof sound (not music) hammers and carries across the neighbourhood. It's terrible.

we have a family two doors up from us that used to play loud music a lot until they got a visit from the local ....em......bikies (who by the way are very quiet), asking them to keep it down, don't hear any more loud music!

And you can hear their cars coming, not because of car noise but the doof doof and shaking of the car. If they stop beside me at the lights, I want to turn my music up even louder, but I'd deafen myself in the process!

when the 'bikies' had their first party we were really worried but it was controlled very well and silent by midnight. Can't ask for more than that, and they only have parties twice a year - birthdays I presume.
