The front page story of woman missing in Kakado, presumed taken by a crocodile is the stuff of nightmares, just terrible.
Please, everybody, when camping remotely, stay safe!

Is that the one where they were swimming at night ? You'd have to have a death-wish to do that even in Daylight in Croc. country.
How stupid can you be.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Its on the front page here Sheba, nothing about swimming at night. She was travelling alone. They called her a grey nomad, had been camping near the ramp. Theres no way I could go to such a remote place on my own.

If she was camped beside her vehicle at the Ramp, as the story suggests, then that's just another stupid thing to do. When will people learn ?
Cheers,
Sheba.

No way would I park that close to any waterways in croc country. Boat ramps is where they like to hang out in case of an easy feed. Surely with all the publicity and signage in that country she would have taken better care. It's very sad that someone has been lost, but once again it's about not being wise to where they are.

Ma, your posts are just as important as anyone else's here and I don't think anyone is asking anyone to leave, just giving opinions, so keep postings don't let those who aren't happy with your posts force you out.
Dunco, your posts are always most welcome, my comments were directed at those who sit on the sidelines waiting for something they can criticize without making any useful contribution to the forum.
This does NOT mean newcomers to the forum who are just learning and post when they need to ask something, later when they feel more comfortable they will post of their own accord.
I do understand that there are those who through travel or absences or are time limited do not post much so not directed at them either, this is my opinion only and all members opinions including those who complain are still entitled to their say even if we differ in our views and outlooks etc.
Apologies to Gerty and others for going way off topic. They are now saying that the woman is not from WA but the NT, see;

Now Ma, we've had this chat before over much worse. Please stay. I'd prefer we keep quality contributors like yourself, and keep the site forum nice, informative and entertaining as we have endeavoured to do over the years, rather than giving in to the negatives of part-time fence-sitters. Those part-timers pop in from time to time, pick a topic to blast and blast away. They sit on the sidelines. If they feel they can only criticise without contributing positives, maybe it's best they don't. The standard and comeraderie on this forum is very high and we all do our best to keep it that way. Even the low quality Wombat banter is entertaining in it's unique, quirky way. Always in good fun. ALWAYS IN GOOD FUN!!! Being outspoken or making a comment is all about freedom of speech. Not necessarily offensive. We are all free to speak, that's what a forum is all about. However, if you can't contribute constructive matters, and can only contribute negatives and criticism, maybe you'd be happier contributing to another forum.
