Pretty much back to normal now. Just a few things in the fridge to finish off, then we start again for New Years Eve, although we don't do so much these days. We don't like the roads and the idiots on them at this time of year.
If you are out and about take care and have a great night.

Had a quiet day yesterday (for most of it anyway) - until we were informed there was abushfire abot 15k away, tidied up, car on trailer, ready to go at 10 minutes notice. Wind blew it towards the coastal town of Guilderton (WA), where it would have had to cross the Moore River to come our way.
thismornings bulletin says it has been contained, but not controlled but as long as the wind stays away, should be okay! Fingers crossed!
New Years Eve we went to a rodeo - had a great time - little town called Mogumber did it well - camping up the road from rodeo ground, shuttle bus betweeen camp and venue, pathway with good lighting provided to walk back to camp. Great family day/evening. Food and drinks available, plenty of amenities, and an enclosed bar. Hay bales to sit on or bring your own chair - if you are in the area next year - come along!

Sounds like it could have been nasty. Thank goodness you didn't have to make a run for it. Sometimes these fires can be out of control in the blink of an eye. Glad you are safe.

Yes - we were lucky - seems to be all good now, on "watch" at Guilderton, where it was stopped before the Moore River, on the south side.
Went to Lancelin for a drive today - a burnt out car on the side of the road has started a fire in the grass and trees on the side of the road, which has then spread to some paddocks - no crops - but stopped before it could get too far, luckily. Another car had rolled about 50m away, big skids across the road.
All I can say is SLOW DOWN!!!!!

Apparently the fire at Guilderton was started in bushland, down the road at Woodridge - by a burnt out car! Photo from one of the firies of a part of the fire field.
Wow jules, thats a magnificant photo . You have a good camera. Glad u r safe.

Today I swore off pizza. 2 out of the last 3 (all from different shops) have made me ill.
Other than that, we enjoyed the cool change, and got an awning-type thing over the door of the bus.

After 30k of dusty road a week or so back, we decided to clean out the underbed storage area, which is accessible from inside as well as outside! There was a huge amount of red dust under there, so everything came out, wiped down, area cleaned, and some things on the way to op shop.
We also had a mouse - very pregnant - sneaking around, put some bait down, there she was this morning - very fat with babies, dead on the floor. So bait put right through - under seat area, under drawers, etc.
Feel very satisfied, even though exhausted! Day of rest tomorrow!!!

Just as well you got that mouse Jules, they can cause a lot of damage and the smell of them takes ages to get rid of. Still sitting at home in the air conditioning until the weather cools. June C.

Big storm yesterday arvo. thunder, lightening and heavy rain. Power went off at about 4.30 pm, came on again 4.30 am this morning. Terrible night, too hot to sleep very much. Air con and overhead fans were off. Adult grand-son staying here with me got up during the night, had a feed of chicken and left the fridge door open! Arggggggg..........not to mention, he placed a torch on top of one of the blades of the o/head fan in the lounge room and of course, forgot to take it down when he went to sleep. So when power came on early this morning, the torch got flung into the wall and woke me up. Today I am giving him away free!

Blast, I am annoyed with myself. I knew there was something I meant to do coming through Kerang Hokianga.
Had it in my head but forgot to write it down on list to do.
I'm now at Nyah on way to Mildura, If I return this way I will definitely come for a stay.
I looked on Wikicamps for overnight fees for a single camper nonpowered. Couldn't find a figure.

at last I got the useless Dometic aircon off the roof. Think I heard the van groan and say "thankyou" as I lifted it off. Lucky I did it as the cover was so brittle it fell apart during the process and I doubt it would have survived another bumpy road.
Will be interesting to weigh the van again as we have lightened the load quite a lot as it has become a 'holiday' van rather than permanent home - all be it 6 mths at a time.

Good job well done Barry - we very rarely use the aircon - prefer the Caframo fans - quieter - and great at night with the timer - set it for two hours, and you are asleep usually by the time they go off.

Finally did a job i've been meaning to get to for a year now. Made an aluminium box to mount my tub battery up off the floor to a position on the wheel arch which was pretty much wasted space.
Now to remove the old battery retainer from the floor & replace the upper table.
Nice job. I certainly haven't been so clever, just been to drs for flu shot

Table for light stuff, chairs etc back in.
Engel slides into area on the left, 2.4kw Yamaha gennie between Jerry can & engel.
Switchboard has the Solar Controller for the 120w panel on the canopy roof to feed this battery, no alternator charge goes to it at all. The battery just runs the engel.
