Yesterday, we drove to Brisbane to see GN member Happy Wanderer, in Royal Brisbane Hospital - she is in good spirits - looking forward to getting back on the road. Lots of traffic on the way home up Gympie Road - some people drive like idiots - cutting in and out of lanes, and when you get to the next traffic light - there they are right in front of you - what is the point??!?!?!?!

at last I got the useless Dometic aircon off the roof. Think I heard the van groan and say "thankyou" as I lifted it off. Lucky I did it as the cover was so brittle it fell apart during the process and I doubt it would have survived another bumpy road. Will be interesting to weigh the van again as we have lightened the load quite a lot as it has become a 'holiday' van rather than permanent home - all be it 6 mths at a time.
I missed this post before B & J, what are you putting in the a/c hole? Have you fitted a split or not bothering?
We have just ordered a new van and it will come without an a/c as I will retro-fit a 3.5kw split system.
Cheers Neil.

Well - today was a bit different - to say the least! Woke up to two police cars next door, with the caretaker, here at Boonah Showgrounds (QLD) . Asked what was happening and was told there was concerns over a Ford Transit van parked opposite us. The assured there was nobody dead in there, and proceeded to tape the area off. After a while, they came to say we would have to move out and away from the van when the bomb squad arrived.
Anyway - there were, the bomb squad, sniffer dog, what looked like a detective, and a police photographer - all doing their thing, while we sat about 60feet away in our camp chairs watching the goings on - while a news helicopter hovered and circled overhead.
They eventually gave the all clear, after getting into the van, and taking everything out.
An eventful day in Boonah!!!!

What I am doing today is nothing, except enjoying the time before I grow old, just sitter here waiting for the MotoGP motorbike races to start.
Hoping that I never turn into a sticky beak, but I was wondering if jules47 and Billeee, would kindly break the suspense, and let us all know, what the explosive outcome was at Boonah Showgrounds.
Was it a hoax call, suspicious activities, etc

Tony - yes - turned out to be a hoax - but not before two nearby schools were placed in lockdown, and we weren't allowed to drive out of the place. The van is still sitting there opposite us!
The man had left a note for the caretakers, saying that if anyone attempted to start the vehicle, it would explode - unfortunately in this day and age things like this have to be taken seriously - a costly day for the police force though.

Hello jules47 & Billeee, and everyone else
Thanks for that info
What am I doing today I am just sitting here, happy and content with my lot. I am thinking how fortunate we all are that we are on a forum, were most of the members never get as grumpy, as the man who left that sort of note for the caretakers

Someone who spoke to him thought he may have PTSD. Poor man, think he did it because he was told to move from where he was parked.

Hello everyone
I sincerely hope that the man with PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) receives medical treatment, and that he overcomes his medical condition, sooner rather than later.
Perhaps I had originally judged him too harshly, as being just a grumpy old man
What am I going to do for the rest of the afternoon?
I will return to my little shed, and continue to clean it out, as it will soon be time for our yearly verge rubbish pick-up

I put the rubber plugs that go where you adjust the van brakes. The original ones were **** plastic and some of them split, so I ordered some rubber ones from Ebay. Also trimmed some mongrel NZ flax bushes for Eril, now she tells me they are to be pulled out!!!!!!!!!! If I'd known that I would have pulled them out with the Pajero!!! I tried the whipper snipper and it all tangled up!!!
We have arrived at Torbanlea for a few days. Spent last night at Woodford and knew Rocket was there but not sure of their rig. So first van we saw we asked are you Rocket, bingo. Had a nice get to know you happy hour. Great to meet you two and wishing you good health and happy safe travels, cheers Colleen

Glad to hear Strop is nearing the end of his chemo - he'll start to feel a lot better I'm sure - say g'day to him from me and Billy - you ok? Ran into any more "Highway Preachers"?
Marj - hope your Abdominal Snowman is melting away!!!!
We are at a great spot near Wauchope, NSW, on the Oxley Highway - it is the Southern side of Wauchope - called Ellenborough Reserve - long drop loos, very clean, lots of bins, and plenty of room - could hold about 50 vans, well parked or spread out - maybe 30 camps. Lovely river at the bottom of the camp.

Rocket - Wauchope is inland from Port Macquarie - Ellenborough is about 40k north of Wauchope. Great little town, just about all you need you can get there - two IGA's - one in town centre, and the other opposite Timber Town on the Oxley. Has showgrounds, with dump point and water.
Why are you putting the annexe in storage? You moving on? Where to?
