Hi again Jules, The road was good & I went as far as the station to check out whether to risk it with the van. I've decided to stay there and also at the camp so two days at each on the way back. The wildllife was amazing & the blowholes were really going off. There was a whale and a pod of dolphins at the blowholes & I also got closeups of a parenti, a thorny devil and a wedgetailed eagle plus lots of flowers. It was well worth the trip. I don't think the whale pics have captured it out of the water. I'm not sure about Seabird as I think I'll be back down south before that but I have the address for next time. The weather here is just sublime & I'm glad I have a few more weeks to kill here before heading back to the cold.

hi jules, how much is the imbil deer farm? Is it far off the highway? Rocket

Rocket - Imbil is $15 pp/pn - bit expensive - but there are showers and all sorts of activities apparently - not too far off the highway - turn off 12k above Cooroy turnoff they have a website with all directions (the creek crossings are bridges).

I pulled up at this caravan park in the pouring rain. Its an unmanned park and I have the whole thing to myself....no one around. Free washing machine, clean ablutions, nice hot water all left wide open. They even provide pegs on the line. The lady at the local CRC tells me they're left open all the time. I figured it must be safe to stay here alone if the locals are that honest.

And where would this great little gem be found, newhorizons? Reckon the town needs a medal and a mention, to encourage travellers, who will most undoubtedly spend some money in the town. With so many dying towns in our beautiful country, we need to support the ones who welcome us

"And where would this great little gem be found, newhorizons?"
Kalannie which is on the wildflower trail in WA, just east of Dalwallinu. It's maintained by Dalwallinu shire and they must send someone out to clean and service it about twice a week as it was well looked after although it hadn't been done for a day or two. It looked like quite a few had been there in the last few days but I was all alone probably due to the bad weather yesterday. Today I'm at Mukinbudin for the WA A-liners meetup this weekend. The facilities here (ablutions & camp kitchen) are the best I've seen for a small country town. Both parks were $25/night powered. Both very deserving of nomad support.

We had early visitors this morning - Old Crofter - Bob and Rhonda - called in for breakfast on their way south. Marj - they said you are looking great, good to hear from someone first hand, so to speak.
Great to see Bob and Rhonda, we met them four years ago in Tasmania - did a trip down to ****le Creek with them, and Bruny Island - had a great time, been friends ever since.

Jules, good to meet up with friends. We r babysitting today. Watching a dvd "shaun the sheep". Enjoying the company of our grandies. We got a house sit in gladstone. Is near the airport, so lots of planes and helicopter noise, on the highway and that is noisey, near a park, people fighting in park then gun shots. I locked the house but strop says there were lots of birds on the tarmac so maybe those shots were to frighten the birds away. Never a dull moment. Glad we do not own that house. Life is good though

What a week it has been. Monday 5am start from home in Brisbane, West Wylong for the night, then to to Geelong by lunch time, look at caravan, agree to buy, make it towable, check tyre pressures, rewire the electricals all done by 4.30pm head into peak hour traffic to the Hume Highway to Shepperton for the night!. Stopping at Forbes to answer a few emails, lunch then remembering to ring the insurance company finally stopping at Mendorin for a well deserved overnight rest after jacking the van up taking a couple of wheels of to check wheel bearings. What a way to spend your birthday and no cake.
Thursday up bright and early we soldier on up the road, lots of heavy transport to share the road with, more road works adding to the delays, Stopped at Aratula in the free camp there about 4.30pm no use rushing home now as it is peak hour traffic, have tea go in after, what is that wire hanging down? Oh thats why the van brakes don't work real well, temp fix that and home at 7.30pm.
Interesting 4 days now own a 2012, 19.6 en suite caravan by Concept, a bit run down managed to get it a great price not a bargain as need to put some work in to it to bring it back to like new.
Now for next week at a slower pace.

It seems a bit odd to be going for drive to buy but when an item you want is available you just go.1981 I went from Sydney to Brisnane to pick up our second hand semi trailer then in 2006 Brisbane to Kiama in NSW for a Cub Camper Trailer now 2016 to Geelong for van.
It was in all cases what we were looking for and been holding out for. Some people just go around the corner me 1700 ks.
Now I can't wait to get it sorted, solar fitted and out and about but first I need to learn how to get the gas hot water to work, never been used including the washing machine.
At home today we have enjoy some rain.

Hey Marj - is that prior to starting your radiation ? How are you feeling? Hair growing yet - Daughters friend had thin lanky mousy hair until she had chemo for breast cancer and lost it. It grew back thicker, light brown and easy to manage - maybe yours will be the same?
We are in Rocky at Kershaw Park, for a few days, got an appointment on Monday, hopefully the last of a series - getting results. Fingers crossed all good.
