Just an update on our heater. Following our initial enquiry, 18 months ago, we have now lived in our van during both winter and summer. The Dometic (Eberspacher) was brilliant throughout winter. As we were still working at that stage, we would get up, say an hour prior to normal rise (call in our "pee call") and switch on the heater then. Bingo, an hour later the living area and th bathroom was a warm as toast. No smell (one of my initial issues) no excessive noise, and ours shuts down when it reaches the pre-set temperature. the bonus is that in summer, you can also use it to draw cool air from under the van to blow around the van.

Lorraine, how do you set this function? We have an Eberspacher and we're not aware of that capability.
The heater is fantastic for winter, though!

Andrea, ours has four buttons, the bottom two are arrows up or down, to preset the temperature for heating. the top two - one is the fan, the other is the heater, if we want just the fan, we press that button

Ah -- ours (a D2) is slightly different, but I've just re-read the booklet and discovered that we can use the fan only after all; it just isn't obvious how!
Having said which, a few days ago we developed a fan problem. It started to make a rather alarming noise one night and wasn't pumping much air, so we turned off the heater straight away. It's not in the most accessible spot, however, and John is struggling with back problems again, so we've not tried to find out what's wrong yet.

I suppose we are lucky that Kedron put the panel in the kitchen above the bench in an accessible spot. Anne & Geoff installed one them selves in their bushtracker earlier this year, but I don't know what brand, or whether it has the two options

No, it's not the panel, Lorraine, but the heater itself. It's in a 'convenient' space under our stove, behind a small door, but to do any work on it we'd probably have to pull the stove forward, which will involve various other 'challenges'!

hey bob dibs m8 what a gr8 idea with the scotch cleaner does it stop the smell of burning lint mine does a bit della complained a bit to hahahaha lmdo. also i have a flicker when running coincides with the fuel pump also when its shutting down it goes tropo with the lights and tv any clues m8

We have a diesel heater and have fitted a muffler to the exhaust pipe (Webasto muffler) and it's still fairly noisy ...why?
its always good to put a muffler on your diesel heater as they also act as a spark suppressor..

This is a very late entry to this topic but may be of interest to other readers. I have recently purchased a van but with no heater so checked on Ebay and came across a couple of which I plan to obtain one and install. All the info above has convinced me that it is safe and well worthwhile having this style of heater in the van. The input on how it was installed in one section was very worthwhile reading so thanks.

I bought a 2kw Belief Diesel Heater from the Tasmanian Distributor. Just started fitting it today.
Full kit including intake & exhaust mufflers, fuel tank & all fittings, $1200 odd delivered to Mildura.
The instructions are deciphered into English which makes fitting a breeze.
