And a happy birthday to you from John & me, Glassies -- your first half-century! And tonight will be the longest night of the year, so make the most of it...

It's mine too. Just another day, adding another number to my age. Looks worse on paper. I did get flowers though.

Lot of birthdays this week; happy 'just another day', CG - it's still a good reason to celebrate, whatever number you want to attach to it! Wish I could send you flowers, too!

Just another day, you're being modest Granny.
What we have here is a landmark in the life of a Guru.....
Happy Birthday CG, you have a ball today as a rehearsal for the many, many more to come..

Hi Chris - I hope you had a terrific birthday!!! I'm sure there will be many more. Cheers Helen
It looks like Glassies you had a great 50th. Good for you! A great way to celebrate the shortest day of the year. My 60th was a beauty, and I'm healthier at 61 than 50. I'm a mum of 3, and 2 of them don't speak to me, and 1 gets on without me, but we get on okay together. Somehow, once my eldest reached the age of 35, my brain ceased to function and turned to mush, and I no longer have the capability to make decisions which please her. I can't live up to her fantasy of who she thinks I should be. My youngest hasn't talked to me since I declined the opportunity to support her drug habit about 7 years ago. I'd talk to her if she'd talk to me. She looks healthy on Facebook which is a relief. Life, as we learn, does go on, and it's up to us what we do with it. Just another day. And I refuse to get old.

oh cg how well you put that ,yes life does go on and we have to live it not them not your children or your mothers or mothers in laws or anybody else but you and you make the decisions in life so you bare the consequences .
im not fussed ,i just felt realy weird for some odd reason that i had turned fifty and even though i have had other birthdays of course because its been three years since we spoke ,it just felt strange fifty is like a turning point for me im like wow im fifty years old geesh where did all them years go and sorta went back into old memories, i think thats where i had to stop old memories are not good ones for me some good some horrid.
but life goes on and what everybody is saying to me its not you that should be sad its your mum, because i have a cupboard full of cards from people and pressies and have been told i am one of the most amazing people that anybody has ever met so gee i cant be all that bad hey, and there is not a soul out there that doesnt know that my husband adores me and cherishes me with all his heart ,yet my mother refuses to get along with him.
oh well another day another life, its her loss not mine .
i hope you had a fantastic day cg and thanks for the well wishes xxxxx
