Nice to see your post Sunshine, love the logo.
If we need to go to plan B at any stage, another option may be for Marg to have a PO Box she could pm on pm request to individual members and any donations could be sent by cheque or money order to that box. I believe it would be better for Marg to control any incoming donations herself, with no expectations on how she uses it as long as it helps in some way, in other words donations without strings.
Please not I am not suggesting that any other way (except direct bank donation to Marg) would not be a good idea too, but it takes the onus off any other members in this regards and avoids any possible unpleasant misunderstandings occurring.
In regards to ACCC, they should also be able to advise Marg of other avenues if all else fails, like the Small Claims Tribunal etc. I went through these once and the cost was very small and I was successful, not sure what the current situation and costs are though.

I went googling marj, and I found this mob online, they have 3y reconditioned engines listed from $995. I'm not sure exactly what they have done to class them as recon motors, nor am I sure what parts you actually receive with it & of course then theres the man power to get the swap done and them up and running, but anyway its a start.
http://www.enginesplus.com.au/Toyota-Hino.htm
Whatever way you go, it would be good if some recommendations came from people who may have used one of these mobs.....last thing you need is another dodgy motor.
I will try to do some more research and ask a few people I know what they think.

No worries Wombat, the Small Claims suggestion was only another avenue if the
ACCC failed, they may even suggest it as an option themselves.
In my case, a neighbour who owed me for his portion of a dividing fence which we had agreed on refused to pay his portion after I had paid for the lot, and kept coming up with excuses why he couldn't pay it (or anything at all for that matter). I had pressing needs myself at the time, bringing up 4 kids on my own, so needed the money too.
This went on for 12 months, and finally I took him to task after seeing him do major improvements to his home, new car etc. He laughed in my face and told me that it would cost me more to take him to court than it would be worth getting my money back and refused to pay.
I went to the small claims tribunal and lodged a claim, paid a small fee, they delivered a demand to his home in person for payment, collected the full payment from him and sent it to me, no charge for that service either.
When he drove past my place after that and I was out the front, he would drive past shouting and screaming abuse, and I would openly and visibly laugh my face off at him. He stopped doing it after awhile. The world is full of A/Holes and the only thing they understand is for people to stand up to them if they can and not let them get away with it.
You only have to watch some of these cases on TV current affairs to realise just how selfish and mean this type of person is.

Good morning guys. I rang ACCC this morning. She gave me advice on what to do next. First port of call is to ring the caryard, give them a chance to respond. If that doesn't work I then send them a letter of demand. When that fails I go to Fair Trading to get the help. ACCC don't do any helping only advice. If after Fair Trading doesn't get any justice then its to the small claims court. I have rung Steve Morley, had a good talk to him and he is looking into what he can do for me. He will ring me back. He asked why didn't I come back to him sooner. Well! Considering I only found out yesterday what was wrong and I was away when it happened. He also asked why I didn't go back to the mechanic who did the initial work for me. I explained I did and he was too busy and didn't really have any answers. I went to him twice. He basically berated me for going to different people cause you only get different answers. But as I explained to him I had no idea what was wrong till I went to the new one. It could have been some little simple thing, no idea it was this big till I went to this new mechanic. Also told him about the speedo and how its probably done twice as many ks. Oh he didn't think the previous owner would lie, he's a good guy. That was even after I said previous owner had said Oh I thought the speedo was not clicking over when it should have. Will wait with anticipation. As I know you all will.

1st step done Marj, good on you.
In regards to going back to the original mechanic you only need to say that you lost confidence in him when he was too busy to help you.
At least you have now got some correct advice. and you know we are all behind you.
Don't get upset when dealing with these people just try to do it with an open mind, I know thats easy to say but just stay calm and say what you have to calmly.

Hi Marj,
I haven't had a chance top read all the details, but it seems you're finally getting somewhere.
As you know, I'm on the road with friends, and mostly free camping therefore don't have internet connection much.
We're currently in Goovidgen, just north of Biloela. Heading to Bedford Weir tomorrow, which is north of Blackwater.
I'm so pleased you got onto ACCC and your sister has offered some help too. I've been trying to get onto here to see what's going on.
Must go, the SW wind is coming up, so need to get into the shelter, where there's no 'connection'.
Cheers Marj!

Its fantastic to see a team like ours put there minds and spirits together as so to achieve an outcome which is only fair and just. We really are seeing and demonstrating together the more wonderful side of what a group of mostly strangers but common minded people can achieve. We are all different, some here have to much to say, some here don't say enough, some are more articulated than others and then there are the older and younger ones too, all sorts of different people who collectively make a really good and feel good group.
I think we could improve things even more if a guru amoust us stood up to be the "Captain" of that we have going on here. Some one who might talk quietly with Marj and coorinate the wishes she is recieving from others, for example, maybe use their own bank account for us to contribute too if needed, maybe work out the timing of any payments, etc. when the time is right of course. What do you think?
We could run a poll to vote for that volunteer. Some already shine out such as Bill, CG,jules47...quite a few others others i could vote for too.
It would have to be acklowedged such an elected person had final and unequivocal command/authority.
My thoughts.

Good morning all. Please don't take this any further. I do apprecaite all that you are trying to do, it has made me quite emotional. I won't accept it for two reasons, my sister has offered to pay for a new motor, without sounding conceited she has more money than all of us put together. Thats the only way to explain it without going into detail. Also there a a few ladies on here going through difficult times with their vans, and a lot more than my small problem. I know of these situations privately but haven't been given permission to detail it on here. It would be unfair for me to be helped and they are still struggling to get out of their situation and get it fixed.. I am feeling sorry for them and wish I could help, I can't take from you at the same time. It would be unfair. I can get help as I said before, they might have to struggle along on their own to get their problems fixed.
