My friend and I spent a day at Peninsula Hot Springs, Mornington Peninsula, Vic, a couple of years back - absolutely beautiful, we felt very pampered.
At Lightning Ridge there is a hot pool, (apparently just near a new caravan park), about 4pm every day all the locals and visitors head up there - very social - very relaxing - and a good chance to meet the locals.
Katherine, NT, have hot springs, which are great - we stayed at one of the caravan parks that had a gate directly to the spring, it was fantastic after travelling, very enjoyable.
Hot springs, and mineral springs, like the ones at Hepburn Springs in Victoria are well worth visiting.

Hi folks, anyone travelling thru Dubbo could also try the the Lightning Ridge hot spa pool too. Was there a few times in the 90's and its free. They also have a couple of CPs to choose from. Terry

Ten years ago I was travelling across the Simpson (westward...French Line) and was having a lot of trouble with leg cramps. Camped at Dalhousie Springs and spent an hour in the hot pool. Did not have another cramp all the way to the West Coast (Steep Point) and for a long time after.

And don`t forget Dalhousie Springs SA between Mt Dare & Birdsville...free camping, quiet, plenty of parking, but would not recommend taking the van, unless it`s very small/light.
