Does it matter if you're in Quick Link, Reply or Quote when submitting the link?

Tried that already Vic and it does not work for me...yes works in Word but not here
I don't know then Pam why it doesn't work for you, I don't have any special programs like Firefly etc, just IE....can't help then I'm sorry.
CG, it should work the way I said in any of those, but I don't know why Pam is having trouble with hers.

Mate, I don't have a special programme. Its the correct way on this forum to insert a link.
When you hit reply, you have your text box where you write your reply.
That is where you paste the link you wish to use, or type it in if you wish.
Then highlight it.
Look up to the tool bar above where you are writing and you will see all your icons, like bold, etc.
The chain link is on the second line of icons.
Click the unbroken link and the box pops up from there.
Copy your highlighted link into that box and hit insert.

I have screen printed a couple of instructions so you can see where I mean and how you highlight the link you wish to insert.
The chain link icon remains inactive until you highlight the link you want to insert,
Not the flashest eg but all I know.

No worries Boroma, once you get used to it, it becomes second nature but it works every time.

Yes, I agree FF...once you know how to do something it becomes a simple task.
Thank you again.

I copy the link you are after, paste it into the reply box, then highlight what you have pasted.
Look up to the tool bar and you will see two icons that look like a chain link, one broken, one not.
These two icons, once you have highlighted the URL link you pasted, will then become live.
Click on the UNBROKEN chain link.
It brings up a box, recopy and paste the deired link in there and hit the insert button.
You will then have an active link.
It does sound complicated, I thought it was, but do it a few times and its easy..
That's still very complicated compared to how I do it I think.
Cheers,
Sheba.

The actual steps required to perform this are not many but the explanation certainly makes it look like a far more complicated process than it is Sheba.

Don't worry guys, I'm just not very 'puter literate. A lot of the jargon just confuses me more. eg, URL, etc.
As I said, I'm still on XP, using IE and Outlook Express. I think most of you are using a more updated system.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Geeze, I forgot about gubby. Have to be more careful in future, won't I? But then if we all did that, he wouldn't have any fun, would he ?
Weird as I just Copy and Paste the link here and its underlined and active.....no selecting link icons etc......maybe cause I'm using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9
That probably explains why sometimes mine are active and sometimes they're not Dave, not realising I was doing the same as you, so looks like we need to do the full reply and then it should be ok (i'm using the same as you). Thanks.....
