Not in your position but I reckon all of the veterans should be bombarding every member of parliament with their complaints and lack of compassion or else apply for citizenship as a refugee Ken
Never been in your position Ma and Blue, but I have to agrree with Ken, although we should all be doing this in my opinion, not just Vets.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Contacting our politicians will just increase the amount of "shoddy treatment" they dish out.
It's not the poor Buggers who work for the DVA who are to blame, it's the "bean counters" and politicians who make the rules.
A politician with a compassionate thought and a heart?
I'd like to see that!

The principle of these departments seems to be to save as much money as possible, at the expense of the intended, eligible, worthy recipients. Centrelink has a similar principle. We might be entitled to assistance, but if they can send us home without it, they've achieved their goal and the budget looks good at the end of the day/year.

I sincerely hope this doesn't degenerate in to the same sort of garbage that goes on in other forums. It pays to be able to distinguish between the terminology of "refugee" "illegal immigrant" and "visa over stayers" before embarking into discussions about "queue Jumpers"

It's time the media was given the facts again, and the principles of this issue are refreshed and broadcast so the rest of Australia hears what goes on. Blue is not alone in his fight. It's an awful way to treat those who fought for our freedom. That's the bottom line. Stand by him and be strong for him. He needs all the support he can get, even if it's only on this forum. I wish I could do more, but my journalism hat doesn't fit anymore.

I would just like to sincerely thank EVERYONE who has lent their support and encouragement to Blue and I in what has been a rather difficult period.
After a trip to Canberra, a consultation with our Advocate and a phone call on Friday afternoon I am extremely please to be able to say
BLUE GOT WHAT HE IS ENTITLED TO and they are going to back date it.
Will make the trip to Tassie just that little bit more comfortable.
Again a big thankyou to all of you.

Great news, just a shame you had to fight so hard for something you were entitled to.
