I just conducted a test, I use Firefox and I get am still getting this problem, I opened some pages from GN with IE9 and ALL the pages were ok ie: newest first.
My thought's are that this could be a firefox problem, matbe a recent update has caused this to happen.
What to do now? Use IE for logging into GN until FF has another update.
You guys that are getting this problem, what browser are you using? IE or FF or something else

I think I have this problem figured. When you click on 'newest first' it brings up the newest post on this topic. This is good when there are a lot of posts on the same topic, so you don't have to scroll through all posts to get to the ones you haven't yet read. The link the reverts back to 'older posts first' by default. If it did not do this we would be opening topics and seeing newest posts first, which could be way off track to what the original post was about and we would be wondering 'what the...is that about. So we need to see 'oldest first' to see what the original post was about in the thread to understand subsequent posts. I'm not sure I've explained this well, but I hope it makes some kind of sense.

no need to apologies, because everybody's system is differant and we also do not use the same programs to access internet, so there could be several variables in this problem.
do you use FF or IE?

It's coming up newest first for me...Windows 7 Internet Wombat...whatever that may be but when I commented on a thread, it went straight back to oldest first.
Okay, it's working now.

Now that's my sort of quote!
When asked "How do I load stuff on my ereader." I replies in all seriousness, I don't know, I just press this button and it appears like magic."
The IT specialist nearly choked on his coffee.
