Been quite a few years since we were in the Avoca area. The Pyrenees is a great area.
There used to be a pie shop in Avoca that had an amazing range of pies. Their more normal pies were amongst the best we have ever had. The bakery was very good as well.
The Moonambel area has some fantastic wineries, but some of the wines have a hefty price.
We have camped at Teddington Reservoir (Camps 6 Vic 447) a number of times as it is one of our favourite campgrounds, but it is not pet friendly. There are plenty of other good camps in the area.
One place that surprised us was St Arnaud. A delightful town with some interesting buildings.
Thanks Ron and Shirley. Checked that out in my Camps 5, it is 448 Have made a note of it. And the pie shop in Avoca.

We are back in Perth for medical stuff. Had planned on being here for two weeks but that has already blown out with drs requiring me to have more treatment. Anyway I am sure Karen and Steve will make you welcome at Avoca farmstay. At this stage you must be self contained. We had to come back before the toilets were done, the loungeroom/hall is almost done as is the revamped bbq area.We will be back there in March There is definitely lots to do around the area. We never got to the pie shop but the menu sure looks interesting.Bakery is good and the pub meals are all good as well. Not far from Avoca is a little resevoir called Lamplough Resevoir. Off the main road and about 1 km down a dirt road, (not very well signposted , from memory sign says reservoir rd and it is on the right as you head towards Lamplough from Avoca but it is only a few kms from town) north of Avoca is a little place called Bealiba with another great little dam with lots of great camping spots. Neither are in the camps 5 book. we went out to campsite 454 in the car but we wouldn't be able to get our rig in there. small stuff would be ok though.

Thanks sufil. Will call in there anyway and make myself known to Karen and Steve. I am self contained for a few nights so will be ok. Will also write in my book all the other places you have mentioned, Nothing like wandering around slowly checking out all these places I've never heard of before. Thanks again.

I missed this thread Marj.
Many rellies from my Dad's side in Bendigo/Eaglehawk area. Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, great grandparents..all in the Eaglehawk Cemetry. Oh that sounds morbid.
Many living rellies there too!
