I totally agree with what your saying. Take warning smokers, you smoke near my van at your own risk.

It's interesting how smokers and drinkers can justify their unhealthy, anti-social habit. Enjoy while you can, for the rest of your life.

Bit of a touchy subject this one, I am a reformed smoker (the worst kind) from about 30 years ago.
When you are an ex smoker (or non smoker) your nose become more sensitive to the smell of nicotine/cigarette smoke. I hated my heart specialist taking my blook pressure, his breath and clothing just stank of nicotine.
When meeting people for the first time I can tell if they are a smoker straight away by the evident nicontine smell. I know from my smoking days you don't realise how obvious this is.
On the subject of smokers in caravan parks, most of us sit out under the awning in our camping chairs to relax, have a smoke, drink or both, read a book or whatever.
The way I see it is it is no the smokers fault if caravans are placed so close to each other it is impossible to have a smoke under their awning without the smoking drifting, especially to a nearby caravan etc. There are no caravan park rules that say you can't have a smoke under your own awning and smokers have the same rights under their awnings as anyone else.
If though they stand right outside your caravan rather than in their own space and smoke then that is a different story, but I don't think too many would do that, most are considerate of their smoking.
How many times have you been with a group outside and a smoker will stand up and move away from the group to have a cigarette? In other words considering others. The fact that sometimes the smoke still drifts towards the group is mostly unavoidable, at least they are trying to do the right thing.
Now before everyone thinks I am sticking up for smokers I am not, just pointing out that despite the best efforts of some they can't please everyone.
I don't hate smokers (except those inconsiderate swines who flick a lit cigarette but out of their car window when you are following them and the wind is blowing in your direction (and open windows). I do hate cigarettes though but not smokers per 'se, although I try to avoid being near them.

I am an ex-smoker having given up 12 years ago after 30 years of smoking. I don't like the smell of smoke nor do I like breathing in the smoke of smokers. I have no beef with others smoking anywhere but right there blowing the smoke in my face. But I do agree with Jack Biggles opening post with someone standing under his van window, the smoke coming in that same window, when there are plenty of other places to stand while smoking. The guy admitted he was standing there looking at Jack's van. Maybe Jack has a nealth problem that doesn't allow him to be close to cigarette smoke, who knows, we don't. I do know yesterday was the first time he has been back on here since about last August. I also do know at that time he was dealing with some health isssues. But after the way this whole thread has got out of hand from his original opening post I doubt if he would be in any hurry to come back. Why do smokers get their back up so easily when a conversation about smoking is brought up.

My sentiments exactly pauline, get a life and stop being so defensive.
I haven't joined this thread because I thought it would get messy.
But I am curious why Cindy has not deleted this thread, she has in the past deleted threads nowhere as heated as this and has also deleted comments from me no worse than some of the comments here.
As I was saying "Just curious"

Absolutely CG. I feel sorry for Jack Biggles who started this thread and has been blasted big time for having an opinion that he has a right to.

Last word from me.
As far as I can see, no-one has called anyone disgusting. It's the habit that is disgusting.
I respect anyone's decision to smoke or whatever, as anyone should repect my right to clean air.

Hi everyone, Thanks for your input on this. However, I think I'll close this thread off now as we've all had a good say on the subject.
