Why do some people get their knickers in a knot over such things...this is a open forum ...and you only said ...you think ..not a statement as this is to be factual.But you were rite on the mark anyway re the Tax thingo...When i see any thing written in RED i visulise the person writting it is frothing at the mouth and about to have a stroke.

As with any advise on any matter to do with tax, pensions, investments etc one must always seek advise that relates to their individual circumstances. what is good for one may not work for the other. The great thing about these sort of discussions is that it opens your mind to the possibilities and better arms you to seek professional advise when you need too.
There will always be good and bad opinions in a forum but that's what its about. general discussion not detailed advise on which to take action.
Always Always check with a licenced advisor to ensure that what you do is in your best interests overall (if you can find one you trust).

Nothing to do with agression. Just chose that colour as to me it seemed easier to read.

I agree in a way. Especially agree about 'may or may not contain accurate'. But to me, when someone says fairly sure, there could be someone who takes that as gospel and ends up getting burned. I always research more when I hear or read about something whether from a campfire or forum.

Herbie, I can assure you I never froth out the mouth over anything. I will definitely take on board the advice about using a red font. I had never considered that it could be interpreted as angry or anything else.
I don't post opposing views just to stir people up. Although it is quite fun at times seeing how an opposing view is considered so badly on here.

I am not a tax accountant but have been in the finance area for many years. Legislation concerning tax or for that matter all legislation requires an understanding of the context under which it is written. Be very careful of taking the wording from one piece of information and applying it to your situation. Talk to a registered tax agent and discuss all the implications.

I decided to rent my property, I have quite a large mortgage so loose very little rent to centerlink. I have no idea about capital gains and figure I'll deal with that if it ever becomes an issue. I've taken out rental insurance so should be covered if my tenant turns out to be an arse. I wanted to stay in the property market, I also take comfort knowing that I do still have a home should I become ill in the future......
Who knows what will happen down the track, I also think if I love the life style and have no desire to settle back home I can always sell my old MH for some thing fancy lol....Tomorrow is not guaranteed, I'd just like to enjoy my life and stress less...

My husband and I have been discussing this very idea, to sell or rent out. We decided to sell our home, as the mortgage is going to be a tight squeeze on the pension, and the house and gardens are too much for us both, we decided it was best to sell.
I don't think we could buy a cheaper house, though there might be something out there. We have been thinking about either renting a home or parking our van on our daughters property and living there.
We both have medical problems, but we want to enjoy what time we have and while we can still enjoy it, which is why we are leaving in 2 years, we would love to leave earlier, but our youngest daughter is only 16 and still in High School, so when she finishes we can start finishing off the house ready to sell.

rick i have been podering the same question to do or not to do.then i came across your post.and common sense kicked in.travelling can be tireing i think it would be nice to come home to a base.i would keep the base unless you find a different base along the way.i like to travel and then come home and then travel again.
