Red Dog, look NORTH. I'm in Hopetoun (WA south coast, west of Esperance) and it's bloody freezing (like wearing tracksuit to bed). Just had a torrential downpour as well. Gee, camping's fun, innit?
Cheers, Tony

Hope you're feeling better soon Kaid. I had food poisoning 2 years ago from a place south of Miriam Vale Qld. Lucky I was heading to friends at Bundy who looked after me.
I'm at Taroom Qld for my third night. It's been cold overnight, but I'm snug and warm in my van. I've had power here, so been taking advantage by using the heater.
I wasn't sure where I was heading tomorrow but I've decided to go to Mitchell to see the new bridge and the old one before the take it down. Some may remember they had a terrible flood through last year, like a lot of other places.
I'll probably stay at the weir at Mitchell.

At Burren Junction bore baths for a couple of days tonight. Had a quick stroll around this arvo but couldn't see any rigs that obviously belonged to members. Maybe better luck tomorrow

We almost crossed paths Jaytee. I was 'gunna' go to Mitchell and changed my mind.
I'm now at Yarramalong Weir, near Millmerrin.

Still home, getting stuck into the gardens to take my mind off the fact I can't go anywhere at the moment. Slowly making some progress with the help of the neighbour and his truck. He's 88years but puts myself and definitely son to shame with his energy.

At Glebe Weir - above Taroom and below Theodore QLD - great spot - had fish for tea tonight - perch, panfried! A pleasant happy hour with fellow travellers. Sunshine all day, and a full moon tonight!

And still no letter in the mail for my 'nose job'.

Another day at home in the garden, can now see how much progress we have made.
Tomorrow up early to take Ninja, grandaughters cat, to the vet in Childers to get fixed. Will be in there most of the day so will take a couple of good books and a full thermos. Will find a nice tree to sit under.

The free camp at Longreach was fine, we spent the previous two nights in a caravan park in Longreach and it was so full that vehicles were parked right against the amenities block, not on proper sites, almost blocking entry and with their power leads plugged in inside the amenities!! We had not read Camps 6 properly and did not know about the free camp when we arrived.
Luckily we had a powered site at the CP and would not have accepted or paid for the places they were putting vehicles.
It seems that the town caravan parks could not accommodate the large number of tourists at this time of the year so it's great that Council provides the free camp.

Presently in Parkes (earlier than planned due to anothers mishap). Had to return south for Sandra to attend an appointment in Wollongong so decided to park the van up in son's front yard at Gulgong & utilise a motel overnight in the Gong. Was a good chance to catch up with those of my kids / grandkids still living in the Mudgee / Gulgong area. Have never really been happy with the rear suspension on the BT-50 given the load it is constantly under, so made arrangements for a Pedders heavy duty upgrade at Dubbo to be done this morning. Left Gulgong only to have a text message on the phone some ten minutes out of Dubbo (not great service on that road) informing me that the Pedders suspension specialist had slipped a disc last night & couldn't do the job. Bit of a ring around to find out that Pedders at Parkes could get the parts & fit the job in tomorrow arvo, so mad rush back, pack up & cruise over here. No real loss as we intended to come over to visit my parents (91 & 85) plus brothers before heading back north to get warm. Will probably leave here Sunday with a rough plan to head for Woruma Dam via Pilliga bore baths, Boomi, Surat, etc.
