Why don't they build the gennies with a decent muffler?

And all for less than half the cost and half the weight of a generator and zero running cost. :) Cheers, Peter
Thats BS.
How can you set up a van or RV to be self sufficient on solar for $400?
Come on!!!

The solar panel was on the van when I bought it. A friend of mine just bought a 300 watt panel, the same size as my panel but with twice the power, online for $160.00 and fitted it himself. The charger came with my van and I purchased the new battery last year for $350. I have no idea how much a generator costs as I dont need or want one.

If you go to a muffler replacement and upgrade centre they will sort you out.
They can quiet down a throbbing 5L V8 to a whisper. Just imagine what they can do to a 150cc single cylinder motor.

At the risk of repeating myself, FREEDOM OF CHOICE.
Clearly some just don't get it.

I don't understand how everyone uses so much power that they need a generator to survive.
It must be for hair dryers, air con and watching Home and Away 24 hours a day as I can't see how you need so much power.
Let me help you understand.
Nothing to do with survival, just a wish to do as we please. As long as legal of course.
Freedom of choice, get it.
Hair dryer, yes. Air conditioning, yes. TV works good on batteries.
Only to watch a balance of current affairs on ABC and Sky News.
That covers both left and right wing opinions.
So be assured, I will (as some others do) use as much power as we see fit.
Be assured though I would never assume to tell you or any one else what your choice should be. Ie. Happy in your own skin, good for you.
Cheers

I wasn't telling anyone what to do, just curious as to how they need so much power.
Doing all those exciting things you mentioned whilst the generator pumps and belches away, I guess you don't have any time nor inclination to go outside of your van and see how it affects the rest of society, Aussie 1.
