Chichi - Bill12's recommendation takes you to just out of Warwick - head to Allora and just keep going - through Toowoomba - stay on the New England to Hampton - turn to Ravensbourne - Esk - Toogoolawah (or across just past Esk at Gallanani) on to Kilcoy and then as Bill says - keep heading in that direction - you won't have to use either Cunninghams or Toowoomba roads then.

I am sorry but I am going to jump in here again and tell you that this is a very narrow, steep and winding road and much worse than staying on the highway. It is a forest road, takes you through a state forest.
This will also take you up the Brisbane Valley Highway which is a less than good road these days.

After giving this much thought I have to say the best way is to travel up the New England (better road and less trucks) to Warwick and then on via Cunninghams Gap. This is not as steep as the Toowoomba range and still has double lanes though there is still ongoing work on one of them, which is good as it means no one can go fast.
Continue on the main Cunningham Highway until you reach Ipswich Road and then on to Gailes and the Logan Motorway. Ignore your GPS at this point because there are road works still happening and the GPS will not have the new roads updated yet. Follow the signs; they are big and easy to see.
Take the Airport turnoff from the Logan Mway and head onto the Gateway and continue on to Marchydoore.
This is the most direct route for someone who is not familiar with the area.
I dont mean to add to your confusion ChiCHi but I do know all these roads very well having lived in the area for many, many years. I dont travel them occasionally, I travel them regularly.
I suggest you have a look at a map in the interim and you will see this is by far the most direct route.
Ask me about your area ChiChi and I have no idea but this area, I defintely know.
Please, it is not my intention to confuse you or in any way discredit anyone else.
I am sure you will find it will be a lot less stressful than you think, once you get out on the open road.

Yes, I'm saying to hell with it. Still can't make up my mnd which way to go. May take the coast road at least I know what it is like. Just constant traffic for the 1500 kms. Roads are good etc.

I actually live in Maroochydore (but only on paper). If you are coming from Kilcoy take the road to Cabooture. It is a new good road & avoids an steep bits. Once at Cabooolture you can get onto the Bruce highway to th Maroochydore turnoff. You don't actually go through Caboolture as the new road skirts the town.

Boroma, you didn't put the link up for the tollways. I have driven the route you mention, Gailes across to the gateway bridge many time as used to live in Park Ridge, just below Browns Plains. Found it very easy to manage, There were still toll booths in those days. Just make sure you follow all the signs so you go in the right direction.
