Some may rememb er that I recently had a biopsy on my nose, I just got a call from the specialist, it is positive but not serious but I have to go in on monday to get a chunk cut out of my nose.
So I make this plea to all my friends here, get your self checked all over regularly (at least once a year) and if any suspicions have it attended to immediately.
The specialist told me that if I had left it until next year there would be a good chance of major surgery to my nose, getting in this soon means I will be just a little bit more ruggedly handsome.
GO GET YOURSELF CHECKED - "WELL GO ON"OFF YOU GO
Our thoughts and prayers are with you pal, keep positive.
Thanks for that, but it is nothing serious, just a shallow melanoma and it wont need any bodgieing up afterwards, will just leave a little dent on one side of my nose.
Might make me look sorta cute for the girls dont you think
It is great to read that bit of good news. I suppose any change to the appearance is beneficial. LOLOLOLOL
Snot to be laughed at.

WELL WASN'T I PROVED WRONG (HA) A LITTLE SCRAPE AND A SMALL DENT ON THE SIDE OF MY NOSE.
IT TURNED OUT TO BE A 12mm PIECE OUT OF THE END OF MY NOSE AND A SKIN GRAFT A TOTAL OF 15 EXTERIOR STITCHES AND I DON'T KNOW MANY INTERNAL ONES.
BUT IT'S ALL FOR THE BEST

Had my doctors visit today. She has prescribed me Efudix Cream 5% for the spot on left side of nose and one at end of right eyebrow near the hairline.. For the bigger on on right side of nose I am booked in for next Thursday morning for a punch biopsy. I have to use the cream for a month, once a day. It will get red and inflamed looking before the area falls off. The cream eats away at the area. Its a chemo cream. If it hasn't shown any difference in the first week I have to up the cream to twice a day. I'm going to look a mess aren't I???

Never mind Marj, think how beautiful you'll look whe the new skin comes through.
If that's the cream I think it is, you're supposed to stay out of the sun while it's doing it's thing. Is that right? It may be a different one.

Thats the right one Beth. I checked at the chemist as forgot to ask my doctor. They said keep out of the sun as the skin will be sensitive and it could do damage. Was going out to Greens on Sunday for a few days but not enough shade out there, so best to stay inside for a while. Thanks goinsoon. Not too worried how it will look at this stage. Will stay out of sight for a while.

In the meantime, my partner has been waiting 3 months before he can get an appointment with the skin specialist, and another month still to wait. Must be a good sign, I know they rush serious cases in before less serious ones. Good luck with your spots people! And Goinsoon, it almost feels like they cut it out with a scone-cutter, eh? Hope it feels better soon.

The beauty of it being on the nose is that they inject a blocker into the nerves that run down each side.
There was no pain whatsoever, I could not even tell where he was working

Brian, I reckon the needle is the worst part of it. Especially on the bridge of the nose where there's not much flesh.

Beth, to mbe honest I didn't feel it, just a tiny sting at first, but the local kicks ib immediately.
I have had no pain at any stage, just this bloody annoying itch as it is healing.

Then don't touch it mate. When the nose itches like that it usually means someone is wishing it up their bum.

Because they had to remove half my nose I had to have a proper op on mine so didn't feel any needles etc as I was out to it.
They told me that when it was healing (once the stitches had been removed) to rub some cream on it to help with the itch, still itches a bit even now, so put a bit of sorbolene cream on it.
My old nose side looks like Billy Coke Bottle, but the new side (nostril) looks like Michael Jackson, it was fully reconstructed including making the new nostril flare.
