Cleaned the bag out here this arvo that I had on the front spare seat. 4 Mentos bags, nibbled a large hole in each and the mentos out in the bottom.
Not sure would worry about peppermint oil.
Seems your mouse may have a liking for peppermint, LOL.
Good to read you are going to try a few small trips whilst you are up there.

That is what I was thinking too, how come they chewed into the Mentos bags if they dislike peppermint, interesting but will try anything.
Thought at least get in a short trip around here before heading home, can't be gone too long as daughter expecting baby in August. So have to work around that. Maybe next year will be a lot better organised.

I actually used Peppermint flavouring Marj. Had to use what was at hand. Nearest shop was a days' drive away at Weipa.

Anywhere that sells candles or oil burner requirements should have peppermint essential oil I would think.

In the meantime when I dab my numerous mossie bites with a cottonball soaked in teatree oil, I will throw the remains in the cupboards rather than the rubbish. I have at least 10 bites on each leg and at least 5 on each arm, helping in the garden, forgot to spray first.
Have been invited to the CWA's craft day here in the local hall tomorrow. If nothing happening with the kids that I can tag along to, may trot up there and have a chat and a cuppa with the ladies.

Mozzies don't like Eucalyptus Oil either Marj. Used to dab some on the Pillowcase at night up the Cape. You can also use it in an Oil Burner, and I believe you can buy Eucalyptus Candles to burn as well.
If you go in to Bundy, The Pumpkin Seed used to be the best Health food Shop to buy this type of thing [and get bulk herbs] years ago.
I used to soak Candle wicks in oil before lighting. Worked quite well.
Cheers,
Sheba.

hi all ..
once bitten, I use Itch Eze Plus Cream which I purchased in Qld .. contains lignocaine and Maleluca oil ..
Don't mutilate the 'itch' first by scratching .. it functions best when applied to gently cover the itch area .. don't rub in ..
If scratched first, then ones own body tries to react to the itch .. thus restricting the effect of the cream .. works for me !
I try very hard to never scratch the bites or I'm doomed, This time I'm using Pawpaw Ointment in between spraying with the Eucalyptus Spray which I carry with me at all times. The coolness of the spray I find works very well. Also taking a Telfast. But as always takes about 4 days to get over them, happened Sunday so should come right tomorrow hopefully.

When at Coonarr Creek over Easter, I was using Bushmans. It covers everything that bites,,within reason,, and is a sunscreen too.
I just looked up my 'Speed cleaning' book by Shannon Lush and Jennifer Fleming, and apparently dried snake poo is good to keep mice away!! You can get it from a reptile park, they say!
Just as an aside, may be time to start a new thread Marj. The subject could be 'The adventures of Happywanderer'!

I left my bottle of dettol at home, but this stuff is working. The worst bites I've had in a long time, 2 have got scabs on them and I didn't scratch them unless in my sleep
