Greens Lake - blowing a gale all night, thought we were going to tip over at one stage - but facing into the wind, so all ok. Very grey, and spattering rain, with the wind died down a bit now!!! Going to be "one of those days"!!!!

After a night of 100km/h+ winds, monster thunder and rain that sounded like pebbles belting into the roof, today has been windy, cold and sunny, all at the same time. More high winds and rain to come.
Gotta love NW Tassie in spring.............

Woke up this morning (not that I really slept) with motion sickness, took some travel calm with a cup of ginger tea. Onto my 2nd lot of travel calm, and my 3rd ginger tea. Wind at a steady 60-70km/h, gusts up to 90. Rain squalls with it. Thinking bed might be the best place for me today - I've never had motion sickness in a stationary vehicle before.........

I heard someone the other day say it was so windy it had blown the curls out of her hair! It blew my washing off the line today. There was a time when August was the windy month - now it's September. The tall ships heading for Sydney have had a rough trip up the coast. Nice temps here though on the far south coast.

Yep, 3,000 in the Don & Devonport in the NW, more in Ulverstone, Burnie & points west. TasRail stopped all trains running, and Devonport airport had everything grounded. SES in Launceston had 50 call-outs, and the Centrelink there was closed due to flooding.
More (smaller) fronts coming through Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Yay - not!

Re: the wild weather down south...a friend witnessed someone's pretty lacy smalls flying about in the wind with a young lady chasing it.
A lighter side to the tragedy. Stay safe down there.
Here in my little corner, it's currently 28 degrees, with an expected top of 30. There may be a thunderstorm this arvo, but I'm not holding my breath. They've been saying that for days.
A southerly change is expected tomorrow, which will drop the temp to 24ish for a couple of days.

Greens Lake again - no wind, not even a gentle breeze - the lake is like a millpond, the waterfowl are loving it - a light mist still rising on the other side of the lake - looks like a magnificent day coming up - as are all days at Greens!!!!

Another balmy day at home in Cairns. I know storms have been around on the Tablelands with hail too! us locals are just so happy with the weather now but for the first time in many years I am watering to ensure the grass doesn't die! It may be a while before we get rain! Planning a trip for March to SA will have to keep an eye on BOM for sure!
