Mate just rang saying the oil level in his Triton Ute is way way above the Max mark. Mate is in another state ATM and far away from his regular mechanic. First Q is about draining the oil until back to Full then driving home? Will he blow the motor up. I have heard of motors apparantly making oil, can anyone suggest how this happens?

Ask him if the coolant level is low.

Engine oil level can rise caused by being supplemented by fuel, diesel. There was a warning about this in my Pajero Sport Owner's Manual. As diesel doesn't have as good a lubricating ability as synthetic oil, it is important to change engine oil as soon as possible following un-explained oil level rise.
Cheers,
Roy.

If it was my ute I would get an oil change done ASAP and check all fluid levels.
