This post is really aimed at those out there who are driving Patrols or Toyota's that are about to run out or have just run out of warranty.
"What sought of mech problems have you had since you first took it home . Problems that has meant off road time or expensive fixes to things like suspension, brakes , steering, engine sludge.
Also included in this would be after market upgrades needed because the factory fitted item just wasn't up to the job.
I note a lot of the above vehicles with very low Km's in yards or for private sale that are just outside the warranty period . Makes me ask WHY and why the purchase prices are reasonably low for such relatively new vehicles. Maybe us Grey Nomads have far too much money and trade up to keep up with the Jones

Thanks Davo , Is this yearly purchase because a problem coming on or just too much money .
I tried that trade up every year and found I lost the same amount leaving for 2 - 3 on a vehicle with a 5 year manufactures warranty. admittedly only do around 10 -12000 k's a year .
My resaerch is into those out of or about out of warranty as I'm thinking of getting one to tow the boat or van and leave the family rig out of ther towing equation altogether

I dont know of any solid reasoning behind the trade ups but he kept it up for the last 30 plus years starting off with fairlanes ending with nissan patrols after quite a few toyotas until he bought a motorhome the year before last, he just seems to be able to handle money, I could never keep up or understand the reasoning behind it
